On this day (Baby Boomers):
1949 "Lone Ranger" premieres on ABC-TV. "Hi-yo, Silver! Away!"
I was fascinated by this show, and always wondered why a Native American had kind of a pomaded man bun. But I guess rock and roll was on the horizon (the Lone Ranger and Tonto seem to be looking at it in this photo) and men were wearing pompadours.
Still feeling gross today. Really sore throat, stuffy head, but at least the fever has abated. Making breakfast for the offspring. Wishing everyone a good day and I hope you're feeling better than I am.
On edit: This scene is too precious not to post.

Or leave a silver bullet at The Mercantile?

Good morning, kemosabes. Yesterday I came down with some crud that my wife and son had already been through. It barely registers on the list of ailments around here but it took the sheen off the day. So far I'm better this morning. Knock on wood.
Behave yourselves.

Sounds like something similar to what has been visited upon me. I hope it departs soon.

Good morning. Calm and cloudy right now.
I got in a 28 mile bike ride yesterday, so I don't feel a need for exercise today.
My plan is to pick more grapes today, both green and purple. I need groceries so I'll stop for Chinese dinner on my way to Fareway this evening.

Shanah Tovah and Happy New Year to those who celebrate!
It's a calm and quiet day in the Heartland, which apparently is an area of the country that stretches from PA to CO or so, and North and South to the Canadian Border and maybe... the Oklahoma border? I'm not sure. But things are calm. I just need to figure out why I can't reconcile any of the rollforwards that aren't reconciling. Sometimes I'm not sure why I continue to try when those responsible for putting them together have apparently given up, but I suppose someone needs to do it and that someone is me. So I shall continue.

Good morning
59F-74F Cloudy with rain at times.
INR appointment this morning and a trip to Cub right nearby. Got down to my shop yesterday but spent the whole time showing Tyler bridge and bridge plate repairs. I'll try to work on MY stuff today as I've been trying to do some minor work on a couple of guitars to donate.

Up coffee. Bannings has their seasonal pumpkin pancakes available again so we will meet Nita’s folks and our daughter there for breakfast later. After that it’s a day of elevating my knee and ice packs. Woo hoo.

Eric Clapton played in St. Paul last night, and he pretty much phoned it in from the sounds of our review. Virtually no interaction with the audience, and many more solos from his bandmates than from him.

A glorious late summer day on the Third Coast.
Sister, sister-in-law, and eldest brother are in town for a quilt show (sister and SIL at the quilt show, brother driving around). They are coming over for dinner whenever they have had their fill of quilts (or whenever they lock the doors tonight). This is the first time I have seen my sister in person in 7 years.

The below post was erroneously attached to the Thursday daily, so to set the record straight:
Well, it rained overnight, which is lovely, although I have no idea how much. Nothing woke me up, but a slow, steady rain would be just what we needed after so many weeks of drought.
I'm working a three-hour shift today, after which I might check out a new Venezuelan restaurant on St. Paul's West Side. It looks spendy, but the appetizers and drinks seem affordable. Arepas, anyone?
Have a day, tribe.

I must have spilled gas on my boots yesterday. The nauseating smell is with me at my office today.
I need to get a few items in the mail, including quarterly tax payments (ugh!) then it is off to work on the beach house.

I'll stop for Chinese dinner on my way to Fareway this evening. Might I recommend the Saskatchewan Chicken? For anyone mystified by this post, back in the day there was a Chinese eatery in Vinton called the Peony. One or both of Todd and Kim's dottirs worked there, and a local farmer would stop in regularly with his wife, ordering "Saskatchewan Chicken." I don't know if it was ever determined if he was just confused about "Szechuan" or if he was proud of his little wordplay.

In my line of work we would have called you a site of environmental contamination, due to a release of hazardous substances. One day I filled my car at lunchtime, the shutoff valve failed, and I had to wade through gasoline to shut it off. Similar nauseating smell, my coworkers were threatening to report my shoes to the state environmental agency for enforcement action.

Back from Crasqui, named after an island off the Venezuelan coast. Had a terrific seafood bisque and a cocktail, which was not as sweet as you might expect from the ingredients. LOS ROQUES
Pineapple rum, coconut liqueur, dry curacao, lime, cane sugar.
