Up early to get a CT scan of my ankle. Also, will have to get a 14 day heart monitor in a few days due to complications that decided to complicate that which is already complicated. When it rains, it pours.
Have good ones.

Oh man, LJ. I hope all ends well.
Tail end of COVID for me. I think I am alright and not contagious anymore today. It has been good working from home all week and having a break from the office and its foul part of town. I'm sure our CEO and upper management grind their teeth when anyone is given permission by HR to work from home due to COVID. Meanwhile, zero precautions are taken in the office to prevent the spread. I won't get into the reasons here.
Wishing everyone a good day as we slide into the weekend, especially those of us who can still differentiate between the weekday and the weekend. 😉

Heading to Hard Rock Cancun for our friend’s wedding. We have had a very busy and stressful couple of weeks so I am hoping this trip will provide some much needed relaxation. Scott lost his Dad several weeks ago and a week after that his dog died. We spent the following two weeks deep cleaning Scott’s house and especially the carpeting. The dog was quite sick at the end. The good news is that through it all I never missed a beat (pun intended) and played all of my music shows. We rented the house to a lovely older gentleman who is thrilled to have a “place in the country” and we had the Cadillac (which became a dog-mobile rather than a wedding/luxury traveling vehicle) detailed and is now ready for sale.
We booked an excursion for me to “Swim with the Dolphins.” Swimming with the dolphins has been a lifelong dream for me. I am so excited I can barely stand it.
Have a great day and wonderful weekend. Adios!

Jan, sorry to learn of the losses. You need this time away, for sure. Enjoy it!

I hope everything works out LJ. We are off to play 9 holes of golf this morning. The first week we've had reasonable temperatures to golf since April. Should only be in mid 80's this morning.

And best wishes for LJ too.
I’m up. Coffee is made, need to get a cup. That’s all I got.

Kinda low ebb this week for me. Just not feeling it lately.
I have an MRI appointment for Monday to get this torn bicep thing imaged. Wound up finding a place that just does it for cash $800 and had my GP just send in the order there. I didn't care to wait another 30+ days and go through the insurance denial and resubmit thing. I guess the good news is for now I can still play guitar as long as it's a smaller body size. On the plus side this injury got me excused from filling the hay barn last week so there's that.

Last day of summer! Looks to be a nice day, with rain possible over the weekend, but mostly in the western part of the state.
LJ, sending you good-health vibes, and Jan, your trip sounds amazing -- Enjoy!
Slept in, will log into the mother ship for only a couple hours of work shortly. I have a ton of PTO to burn up by the end of the year or I will lose it.
Possible late lunch with Marty, I'm thinking Mex at Casa Azul Agave, which we have not visited in way too long. Elotes, maybe?

Scan done, breakfast eaten, and back home. I meet with the orthopedic specialist next week to discuss it all. Meanwhile, 14 day heart monitor will be strapped on in about a week so we can see what it shows. Fun times.

It determined that I was, in fact, a cold, heartless bastard. Good luck with it. A local I know just finished recovering from his ankle replacement and said it was life altering. He didn’t clarify if it was in a good way or bad, but he seemed to make it down the stairs to his basement with ease. Cloudy, rainy, and generally depressing here, since I’m home with a wrenched back.

Sorry to see all of the bad news here. Hope it all improves. More bad news at choir practice last night. The woman who sings next to me had just found out yesterday that she has colon cancer. Caught early and she's waiting for an appointment for the surgery. Our director was gone, which was planned. Accompanist did his job and hers and she had COVID symptoms that started the day after she returned from traveling and then tested positive. A mild case. She's past 10 days and was wearing a mask.
Still can't get the latest COVID vaccine here. Our pharmacy keeps getting later and later estimates for when they'll have it. I know that some wouldn't get vaccinated no matter what and that's their choice, but I plan to.

My friend, KC Wait, did a setup on my Squire 70s classic strat, and now it is a joy to play. I had tried to set it up, but I made it worse.
Some accounting work to do this morning, then lunch with an office mate. I will probably duck out of work early and go for a walk at the bark park with my 4 legged friends and maybe youngest son.

Good morning, and time for some good news.
The resurfacing of the bridge over the Cedar River in Vinton has been completed. The bridge is now fully open to two way traffic.
I should make a trip to Cedar Rapids this afternoon, we'll see.

LJ, sending positive healing vibes your way.
Just back from picking up our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter. We will have a lively day today! Add to that, I get to go to the pep rally for our Homecoming here at Vinton-Shellsburg School District. I will put the all of my kids on the buses and take them home at the conclusion of the pep rally. In my case that will be about 32 kids ranging from Kindergarten to Seniors. Pretty sure the little kids will expand their vocabularies today.
With any luck, I will get them there without incident. Given the age of some of these kids, I thank the lucky stars each day we get there and back without an incident.

About 20 Canada geese just flew over my house in half of a "V" formation. The juvies are learning how to fly in close proximity in advance of their migration.
Although we have plenty of "Welfare Geese" who stay here all winter.
