Not really a convention. But some kinda show in Oak Brook (suburb) this weekend. Several mfrs. and you can test drive. It was advertised on evening news. But you have to register. It costs $5. So O went on-line and there was one slot available tomorrow afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00. Every other slot (except 8:00 to 10:00) for Fri, Sat, &Sun was filled. So’i’ll be lectrafied tomorrow afternoon.

Be sure to ask them how far they can go pulling a 5000 lb. trailer.
Standard weakness of EVs.

I'm wagering LJ saw the Electric Vehicle Convention back in their heyday around 1964. If I recall, a nascent Grateful Dead was opening for them. At that point the Dead was called the Only Slightly Wounded.

Yesterday an EV on a trailer with other cars caught fire, as they are wont to do. Shut down I10 for 6 hours.

Yesterday an EV on a trailer with other cars caught fire, as they are wont to do. Shut down I10 for 6 hours. Another one of the big things learned about EVs- don't park them near anything important like your house, your garage, a road, water, etc. They randomly catch fire and burn hot and long.

In our family's experience, so do ICE Fords! At least, my ex-in-law's Escape did, in their garage. Luckily, ICE fires can be extinguished easily (unlike EV fires).

So’i’ll be lectrafied tomorrow afternoon. You might want to bring a Tonedexter, or it's current equivalent in your inventory of amplification tools, so you can get the sound to your liking. As a bonus, you might be able to find one direct from China that will be cheaper than if you get it via a US manufacturer. ...wait a minute, are we talking cars or guitars?

Ha ha ha
Actually China is the largest mfr of lectric cars. They’re not sold here because of Trump’s 27% tariff on Chinese car imports.
I’m not complaining about that.
There’s a stink out there that Ford wants to use Chinese battery technology in their new cars. And that might knock them out of govt tax rebates.

Here's an electric vehicle convention: Electric vehicles have batteries. I thought the short haul EVs had extension cords. Hey, here’s an idea. Why don’t we just string overhead electric cables everywhere and make EVs with long arms the rise up from the vehicle and take power from the overhead cables?

It was fun sort of.
I got to drive a Prius and a Prius Prime. Nice cars. I liked them. Drove a Kia EV-6. I didn’t drive anything else. They’re all quite nice. You only drive around a few blocks. Hard to tell anything in that little sample ride.
Got back in my Civic and drove home. I probably wait a year or so.
