While I was watching the Josh Turner Vintage Guitar Sound video, my mind drifted back to times when the recorded sound of a guitar really struck me as perfect. I doubt very much that what my mind recalled and what Josh was talking about had much if any overlap, but there were two recordings in particular that came to mind as having made me take notice of wonderful guitar sound. Maybe it was just the riff, the chords, or the playing, but these two samples of recorded guitar really grabbed me:
Then, upon youtubing these examples I stumbled on two more gems -- testaments to a great song that can be interpreted so many ways -- from its original, very dated best of folk scare performance, to an updated guitar bit capoed at SEVEN.
and, of course, one rabbit hole leads to another and I can't watch just one AJ Lee video.

Anything on these two albums. Sam Phillips, "Fan Dance" and "A Boot and a Shoe." From interviews I've seen, most of the acoustics on these two albums were old archtops with ancient strings. The producer was her then-husband, T-Bone Burnett.
