More rain today and tomorrow. Flash-flood warnings. Ugh.
Made it home yesterday. Had to strap the guitar case in thusly, since these regional aircraft are so freaking tiny; the case is too tall to sit in the seat without hitting the bottom of the overhead compartments. However, all went well, unlike the older couple whose flight before mine was cancelled for mechanical problems. (The husband was a retired management consultant who loves guitars, and has built several beautiful solid-body electrics of exotic woods, whose photos he showed me, and also has quite the collection of other makers' instruments.) Also, because of some "visual obstruction" issues—which did not apply, as you can plainly see—they put me all the way at the back of the bus.
All in all, it was a good couple of days, nice to have a change of scenery and meet some new people. Ken and his wife could not have been more welcoming and cordial.
But it's good to be home.
Have a pleasant day, everyone.

Good morning. We're having what I hope and believe is our last bout of hot weather. It's not all that hot. The only item on my to-do list is to apply a dry rub to the chuck roast I'll smoke tomorrow. I think I can handle it.
Enjoy your day.

It got down into the mid 40s last night and may be in the upper 30s tonight. I have a heart monitor cemented to my sternum and have 13 more days to go before it and a few layers of skin come off. I get to take a bath in a bucket in the backyard for two days and then I can bring the bucket inside. I suppose if you look at a list of awful things, wearing a heart monitor for 14 days would be down at the bottom and, probably, still better than eating at a Waffle House. That’s iffy, though.

Morning. Some pre winter chores on tap for the weekend.
Speaking of hot in Arizona Mom rolled back in to town in her RV for a week or so waiting for it to hopefully cool before she heads down to winter in Mesa.

I just looked outside and it's raining lightly!
About 1 1/2 years ago one of my next door neighbors passed away. He was living with a gal, but they weren't married. He also had a son from an affair, living in Boston, and a daughter living locally. No will. Just before he passed, his son from Boston showed up and demanded his dad sign over everything to him. That didn't happen, but the state has a claim on the home and everyone was to vacate. He refused to leave and has been squatting there ever since. Until yesterday when he was hurriedly carrying boxes out of the house. He left and there is no sign of him this morning. I suspect I'll be getting new neighbors.

I hate everyone who did Wordle in less tries than me. Which seems to be everyone.

Nita seems to be doing ok. Started Paxlovid yesterday, her cough has subsided, and her fever is gone, I’m still sleeping in the spare room, she has the main bedroom, with tv, books, and man servent bring her tea, food, coffee, really whatever she wants to a tray outside her door. One of the nice things about our house is that modern houses are built tighter so the heating p/ac system runs a fan to exchange the air in the house every hour or so. Since she tested positive, I’ve changed the settings on the system to run 24/7 so, hopefully I can avoid this.

We replaced one of the two raised beds Linda has and changed the dirt and mulch in them both. So now is the time to get the seasons vegetables planted. So today we shop for vegetables. Linda's doing all the work, I just watch.

Morning, all.
Wordle in 4, but I did it on my phone and can't share to the laptop. I could do it again on the laptop, but then I'd get it in one.

"Linda's doing all the work, I just watch."
Paul, please explain in detail how you achieved that outcome. Envious minds want to know.

Sunny, chilly, and breezy. Likely to cloud over and rain later on, rain predicted off and on for the next week.
Lots of Amazon packages arriving, bearing auto parts, snowblower parts, grill parts. Lots of fixes to be done between now and the onset of winter.

"Linda's doing all the work, I just watch." Paul, please explain in detail how you achieved that outcome. Envious minds want to know. Nancy is 11 years younger than me. My method was to fake heart problems to the extent of getting an unnecessary pacemaker implanted. Now, just for good measure, I am faking knee pain and have bribed an orthopedic surgeon to do an unnecessary knee replacement. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

87 predicted high today. Smoked chicken was delicious last night. We brined it for about 12 hours before smoking. Though that adds a bunch of sodium to the meal, it sure makes for moist, delicious meat.

Like all other days before, I got Wordle in one. That's the upside to being prescient. The downside is that I already know you all don't believe me.
Another 13 hour day yesterday and I found out I won't be getting a day of for the foreseeable future.
