Good morning. Last evening we walked down the block to a neighborhood party. I wasn't in the mood but I started talking to people and wound up enjoying myself. There must be a moral in that story somewhere.
Enjoy your day.

Ah, the daily has arrived! Drizzly, rainy, chilly, and dreary. That sounds like a firm of divorce lawyers, but it’s today’s weather. Well, I can look forward to breakfast, anyway.

Spent the earlier part of the morning making a reasonably nutritious breakfast for my daughter, who just left the apartment 10 minutes ago for school and her first PSAT. I wanted her to have some protein and a warm beverage to start this day. Soon I will be hoovering the place, which is full of shed dog fur, as usual. "Don't worry Dad, we'll get a dog with hair, not fur, so it won't shed."
We adopted this beast instead. Lots of fun when you wear black clothing.
Cloudy and about to rain in New York. Good day to stay inside, hoover the living room, read, and have some hot chocolate.

Thankfully all the cool folks in Brooklyn wear bright colors.

Good morning
44F-55F partly cloudy.
Terrible night. Went to bed early with a fever feeling lousy. Woke with no fever but a back full of agony barely able to move. It's loosening up as I force myself to move around and I'm sure the Tylenol helped. Good ole Simon senses his Papa is upset and wants my lap to comfort me, Riley is hanging out right under my chair waiting his turn. Next is a hot shower and some breakfast. I've got people to see today.
Done whining, time to get on with it.

Morning. Fever down this morning. Still feeling weak, but any improvement is welcome. The eclipse will be eclipsed by cloud cover this morning. Rain this afternoon.

I hope both of you, Marty & Mike, are feeling better very soon. The eclipse will be rained out here, I fear. 5 more days to wear the heart monitor. I can’t wait to rip it off.

Hoovering, like vacuuming, only easier to spell.

The rain has stopped but it's heavily overcast. I checked the rain gauge this morning and found 1.25 inches in it. That is the first, greater than one inch rain, in the past 2 1/2 months.
Breakfast, then the Urbana Farmer's market, then a trip to the depot in Vinton to hear Todd and Joe making music. All that will get me in the mood for grocery shopping at Fareway.
Iowa vs Wisconsin football this afternoon. Granddaughter is a student at U W Madison.

The rain keeps falling, that cold, hard rain, falling on my window tonighttodayGloomy day, no lack of inside work, a couple errands to prepare for Dawn's significant birthday tomorrow. Howard - we do lots of hoovering around here too, considering a spouse and other family members who wear lots of black:

Pictures from this morning's walk. It must be the best fire hydrant ever, because it is outstanding in its field. A field of beans looking ready for harvest (not that I know anything about that) A path into the woods; next to the bean field, leading towards the creek that is the Western border of the field.

Marty and Mike - I hope you feel better soon.
John, Cool photos.
I need to defrost my refrigerator coils and diagnose why they are freezing up, requiring removing part of the inside of my fridge. Does anyone have some extra freezer space that I can borrow?
We have a second refrigerator, but the freezer in it, like the freezer in the broken one, is nearly full of stuff that we refuse to take out and cook. So goes the problems of living in the land of plenty.

I don’t know whether or not these exist anymore, but in the Midwest back in the 1940s and ’50s every small town had what was called a locker. They were businesses that had large freezer buildings and one could rent a private space to store frozen foods, mostly meat. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard of these being used and they may no longer exist.

They were businesses that had large freezer buildings and one could rent a private space to store frozen foods, mostly meat. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard of these being used and they may no longer exist. General Music in St Paul where I had my shop for 17 years was originally a Butcher shop with one of those large rental lockers, almost half the building. There were also several small walk-in cold rooms. When Dick Wheeler got the building all the refrigeration equipment in the basement was gone so he turned the small coolers into offices. But he left that big locker as is. We used it as a sound proof rental practice space and storage area for sound equipment. It worked very well as even really LOUD bands in there could barely be heard until you opened the huge 14" thick door. Our show floor was only 1/4 of the ground floor with offices and shop benches being another 1/4 of the ground floor. Those benches/counter tops were all butcher block so good sturdy work spaces. But there was no room for machinery on that floor so it all had to go in the basement. Lots of up and down the stairs.

David, my freezer in the garage suffers from the same overstuff issues that have been described here. Plus, I don’t think anyone should visit us for about another week or so, until I certain I’m not a spreader. But I applaud your bravery in taking your fridge apart. Hope you can get it back together again.

Beans are in the bin and beets are on the road.
I need a cookie.
