For some reason, the wars raging globally and the march of history made me think of the late Phil Ochs. People of a "certain age" will, doubtless, remember him vividly or at least vaguely. He was an immense talent whose life ended too soon, by his own hand.
I had the privilege of seeing him in concert at Carnegie Hall, in April 1970. His second set consisted of a medley of Elvis Presley and '50s rock and roll songs, which he performed in a gold lamé suit. His fans were not pleased, but he was just ahead of the curve. However, he is most famous for his anti-war protest songs.
Wishing everyone peace today.

Good morning. This evening I'll play my first set of music in many years. I can't bring back skills that have faded. I could and did practice A LOT. My goal is to bring smiles to a few faces.
The world seems to be walking on eggshells right now. Let's hope for the best. Like Howard, I wish you all peace.

One more day with monitor. Hooray! It’s going to be slow going getting the tape off but I got a good Cosmic suggestion on how to do it so I will follow that plan. Then, a long steamy shower in place of the quick ones I have taken the last two weeks. Hang in there & hope for the best.

Got home after midnight after driving up to see the Mavericks last night in Missoula. They blew the roof off the place. What a band! Some world class squeeze box playing going on. I think Jan needs branch out and do some Tejano.

Linda and I got both a flu and COVID vaccines yesterday. I got one each arm and both are sore this morning. Linda got both in the same arm and she’s hurting. hot/ cold flashes, nausea. Hopefully it start to subside as today wears on. The immune system really can make one’s life miserable.

Felt rotten in yet another different way this time, but overall was short-lived and not too onerous. Hoping that your pain and Linda's misery will be the worst of it.

Y'all are reminding me that I need to get a Covid shot. The virus that now wears that name isn't as lethal as the original one but it can still wreck your week.

I think Jan needs branch out and do some Tejano. Majorminor, Jan is way ahead of you. A few weeks ago I went to a street festival/block party. The party was initiated by my friends and they asked me and Bonny to play a few. We did. Later in the day a rock and roll band got up. They were terrific. They announced that they were going to play the Maverick’s song, “All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down” and they asked me to join them. I have never or will ever perform in front of people unless I know what I am doing. Also, I was playing a B flat concertina that day and I knew that would not work with the key they were playing the song in. They were playing it in the same key as the Mavericks. Long story short, I have a concert pitch concertina and am able to play along with the Maverick’s recording. I am working diligently and have been asking “Alexa” to play the song over and over so I can practice along with it. The next time I see those guys, they are going to be in for a nice surprise. I am loving “branching” out! Glad you enjoyed the show. I watched the videos you posted and it looked/sounded great! Also, I just signed up for the next eight week session of the horse training class I took last winter. (Actually, it is more of a people training class, the horses seem to know what they’re doing). I can’t wait to spend several hours every week with some f-----g horses (as you call them! LOL!) I am so happy!

If you combine it with anything else like the annual flu shot, have them do it in different arms. Geographically different lymph nodes divides up the work.

Being a side-sleeper, the time I got injected in both arms made it a bit hard to get comfortable in bed. I decided to leave one arm unjabbed the next time. That worked out better for me. I have sometimes felt crappy the day after a flu jab so, just in case, I prefer to have nothing much to do on that day.
At the moment we're sorting out my Dad's house for photos before trying to sell it. Quite a job.
It's rainy again.

Those covid shots (and several others) are a strange business. Some have a strong reaction to them, some a mild reaction, and some none at all.
I am in the "none at all" boat. No reaction to any of the Covid shots I have had and no reaction to any of the flu shots I have had over the years. I don't buy the guess that the lack of reaction I experience may because my immune system is a bit of a laggard as I don't get sick very often. Haven't had the flu over forty years, haven't had a bad cold in, I don't know, ten years or so, and my one bout with Covid was mild and over with in two days.
What holds in my case most likely holds in many others. Leading me to believe the degree of reaction to flu and Covid shots, whatever it may be, has little relation to the efficacy of the individual immune system. Words suggesting other are merely attempts to comfort the afflicted and nothing more. The knowledge is lacking and anecdotes swing both ways, up, down, and sideways.

Got my flu shot today; no reaction. I think. The first and second COVID shots gave me a little bit of a reaction. I don't even remember how many I've had now, but no reaction to any of the other ones, and none was as bad as COVID was. I prefer to get vaccinated against flu and COVID; I understand many do not want to. I do have some risk factors that incline me towards getting vaccinated. But then again, I am about the only person in the house who takes a pill (ibuprofen, etc) for a headache. Everyone else would rather suffer through.

I have no theory about why reactions to vaccinations differ. My older daughter had very bad reactions to the Covid vaccine and booster shots. When she actually got Covid, though, she had a mild case. My wife and I had mild reactions to the shots. Covid itself hit my wife very hard. Who knows?
