On what day of the week were you born?
Monday’s child is fair of face Tuesday’s child is full of grace Wednesday’s child is full of woe Thursday’s child has far to go Friday’s child is loving and giving Saturday’s child works hard for his living And the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay. (What?) 😀
I was born on a Tuesday.
It's Thursday—I hope you don't have too far to go.

I have miles to go before I sleep.
Today is supposed to be the route posting for me to go full time.

My co-copy editor had her knee surgery scheduled for this morning, in the middle of our holiday campaign on the website. Yesterday I edited 18 separate articles. We usually rotate the first and final reads. Until she is able to log on from home, I'll be doing both. She won't be back in the office until December 11. Granted, I am not out on the road delivering parcels and letters in a race against time, but it's horrific in a different way.
Good luck, millring.

Good morning. John, good luck. Howard. at least you won't be bored.
My set last night was fine. My voice got good reviews. My left hand couldn't seem to find the frets on the guitar, though, and the near misses made fascinating but unwelcome sounds. The audience liked the material and didn't seem to care about all the guitar clunks. I suspect those were mainly due to nerves. After a decade's absence from playing and performing it could have been much worse. I'm glad I did it.
Zoom social breakfast this morning. Grocery store and library later. Enjoy your day, friends.

People actually know on what day of the week they were born? That’s amazing. I’m lucky the date was recorded. Hell, I’m lucky I was recorded.
Heart monitor comes off at 1:07. Yay! Crappy looking day here. Chilly rain.

"People actually know on what day of the week they were born? That’s amazing." Since I was born on Thanksgiving it's pretty easy.

On newspaper copydesks, the first read is called the rim, or rimmer, and the final reader is the slot. It all goes back to when copydesks were horseshoe-shaped affairs, with the desk chief sitting in the middle, which he accessed via a slot in the desk. Typewriters and half-sheets of pulpish paper, glue pots, cigarettes. Good times, I hear.

Was that before your time, or did you still get to witness some of it? Not trying to be a smart-ass, it's a genuine question. The way technology moves and changes in this world that could have been the 90's or the 60's. When I first started working smoking was still allowed in offices. I used to have to sit in a senior manager's office on conference calls with her, while she went through cigarette after cigarette - depending on how stressful the call was. If I was unlucky the calls were with the office door closed. The office managing partner smoked, too. I remember being out at a client who had a "no smoking during office hours" rule. I was plugging away on a spreadsheet and at 5:01 I heard the flick of the lighter from the cube next to me, followed by a relaxed sigh and the wafting of the first bit of smoke. That first part, the smoke from a freshly-lit cigarette, always smelled different than the rest.

In spite of the rather severe headache I woke to, I’m actually feeling a bit better today. Slept mostly through the night, which is a win. I weighed myself yesterday, I’ve lost 8 lbs in the last week due to due to the gastro stuff that came with the plague. Food has been less than interesting.
Supposed to be a nice day here, high of 73. I’ll see if I have the energy to mow later.

Morning!
Off to play a little band concert for the good folks at Valley Senior Living. I get to front the band on "What a Wonderful World" and "As Time Goes By". I love fronting the band and channeling my inner Frank.

Today we are off to the Cumberland Falls, KY, area to do some off-roading in the Jeep for the next few days. It should be fun. We'll be with another 200 or so Jeeps, through gullies, creeks, and so much more.
Last night we also decided to go to NYC in February. Jason Isbell is playing Radio City Music Hall with Aimee Mann as the opening act. I am very excited about this - now we just have to figure out how to get there, put in for time off, etc. And figure out how long we're staying. Probably not enough time to leave greasy fingerprints on any mondo-expensive guitars, but we might see if we can catch another show while we're there.

The way technology moves and changes in this world that could have been the 90's or the 60's. My first newspaper job was in the late 1970s and we reporters used Selectric typewriters and then scanners to print out cold type that was glued to page mockups in the composing room, but editors used early VDTs. So I missed out on the glue pots, although some old-timers still wore green eye-shades. Smoking was rampant and remained so in newsrooms I inhabited until the mid-'80s, when we gradually eliminated it, starting with a "lounge" that had a couple of terminals in it. If you had to find someone in there, man, opening that door was like stepping into a cloud.

"Does this mean you're going to be getting out more?"
I'm not sure, Todd. I'm not interested in replaying my old songs forever. If I started writing new ones I'd have a reason to perform. I figure that will work itself out, one way or another.
