Good morning. I woke up too early but I still got an adequate night's sleep. I'm having computer software problems that go back to the arrival of Windows 11. They're exacerbated by the fact that solving computer problems isn't one of my strong points. At 3:00 AM, I woke up and started trying to reason my way through the problems. That's the wrong thing to do if you want to go back to sleep.
Today I'll have a minor medical test. There's nothing else in the offing. Let's all enjoy the day.

Morning - day 3 of constant snow so we have about a foot of heavy and wet accumulated at the house. Rifle season opened this last weekend and I didn't get a tag and don't think I'm hunting this year. That's make 2 years in a row so I may be done. The freezer is full of a bunch of prime local beef so no worries.

Good morning
32F-53F windy. Now that the ground is totally soaked let's blow all those leaves off the trees before the ground freezes.
Errands this morning, pharmacy and hardware store. This evening my girls are taking me to Olive Garden.

One cataract removed and new lens inserted. Virtually no pain or discomfort from the procedure. Vision is still cloudy today, so I won't get a sense for the resulting vision until it heals up a bit more. One thing I do notice is quite a contrast in brightness between the new lens vs the other untreated eye. It illustrates the degree to which the cataract is reducing the light in the untreated eye.

Back from traveling, which I do not advertise before taking a trip. We had a wonderful cruise from Montreal to Fort Lauderdale. The air travel, however, was horrible. Delays and re-bookings caused us to get to our Montreal hotel at 2:45 AM. They also lost our luggage, which was delivered to the ship the following evening. (Viking Ocean stays docked at its departure port for a day.) On the return home, delays, re-bookings, more delays and the big delay from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning meant spending the "night" in a hotel in Dallas (actually Six Flags far from DFW) at the airline's expense. It must have been a minimal expense, judging by the quality of the place. Took a shower and got 3 hours of sleep. Anyway, we lost Wednesday that was supposed to be our day for catching up and recovering. Had a social club lunch that we hosted yesterday and I had choir practice last night. Laundry is done, bills are paid, and some appointments are made. Today feels like the first normal day in a while, but I'm not feeling quite normal. Not sick, just out of sync. I may be too old for this crap.
We had 21 people at choir practice. For months we have had 12 to 15. Part of the increase is due to snowbirds returning and part is due to people wanting to sing for Christmas.

Good morning, all. More sunny and warm weather here, but a cool snap is promised in 3-4 days. Hoping to close out the clinic week without too much drama.

Sorry about the hassles, Hobson. Your choir numbers are good, though.

Up, feeling better finally. Moved back into the main bedroom last night. Had weird dreams that I have no memory of, but the wife tells me I was thrashing and yelling, so no extra charge for the show. Today would habpve been my dads 101st birthday. Gonna rustle up some breakfast soon. Struggling with Wordle. Stuck on a third word.

Wet. Gonna rain some more. Not sure whether it will ever be dry enough to clean up leaves. A few workshop tasks then spending late afternoon and early evening with granddaughters.

I am identifying with Don and Steve today. Like Don, my attempted repairs are not going well and I have found myself staying awake trying to determine how to fix it. In my case, it is our refrigerator. I have received two replacement parts, and neither fit, despite being the identical part number from the part I removed. And like Steve, I have not hunted in two years. In my case it is birds. I hope to get out with a friend tomorrow to shoot skeet and trap. We might even plan a hunting trip.

6" of snow overnight. The cat and the dog had very different reactions to their morning let out. Casper charged out tail high and proceeded to make a series of doggy snow angels. Maggie took one step, hissed, and then did a huffy turn around.
(sure that there must have been a mistake, she asked to go out again a half hour later. There was no mistake. Unhappy cat.)

The only things for which I have ever hunted are:
1. The house keys 2. My eyeglasses 3. Two-bladed razor cartridges 4. Certain types of hardware 5. That one sock

So that's where my missing socks go--Brooklyn. Argyle Smartwool, right? I hate it when it's the expensive ones.

Checking out a new Mex place in St. Paul today. With temps in the 30s, it's POZOLE TIME!

Back from traveling, which I do not advertise before taking a trip. Good. Excellent advice. Sorry about the collapse of the commercial airline industry.

At 3:00 AM, I woke up and started trying to reason my way through the problems. That's the wrong thing to do if you want to go back to sleep. I’ve had no problems at all with Windows 11. Of course that’s largely because we only use Macs, iPads, and iPhones.

Good to hear you enjoyed the cruise part and are home safe and sound.
I also don't advertise before taking a trip. At a brewpub in northern Michigan we punched a code to reserve a place in line to get a table. I was appalled and more than a little peeved when it bounced to Facebook and announced to the entire internet that we were at the Clam River Brewery in Cadillac, Michigan.

I would post a very negative review on Yelp outlining this invasion of privacy.
