Richard Thompson has been doing an "ask me anything" type of thing on Facebook. Someone asked if he ever had plans to retire. Richard's answer: "If I think I’m playing shite, I hope I’ll stop and get out the watercolours. Otherwise, I’d be happy to die on stage – ‘His dead fingers were hard to prise from the fretboard – it was a C13b9’."

Weather Underground forecasts today's temperature range of 12 to 42 degrees, currently -10. Coffee and firebuilding first, then bundling up to shovel the 5 inches of snow we got yesterday. Sunrise will reveal a beautiful landscape. I'd say that's a whole lot a whole lot early. It's cold out here a but further north, and at a lower elevation. Just curious, when to you get spring?

Spring flowers are a Memorial Day thing in these parts. Spring weather moves up in elevation during the summer and reaches 13,000 feet the beginning of August.

But with the other eye still undone, none of my glasses work anymore. One lens works for the uncorrected eye, but messes up the corrected eye. Paul, have the optometrist pop out the lens on your glasses on the corrected side, that way at least you can drive. Mike I was about to suggest this as I did it so many years ago and it worked like gangbusters. My glasses were a little unbalanced but I got used to it quickly.

Chilly, snow flurries tonight, possible accumulation tomorrow. Pre-winter outside tasks remain undone. Successfully set up the iPhone 15, additional expenses today for an OtterBox case (I drop stuff a lot), wall charger, car charger, headphone adaptors, etc. (I drive an antique 2008 vehicle that doesn't have bluetooth but has an auxiliary plug-in, have lots of old but functional headphones) My 2007 Toyota 4Runner didn’t have Bluetooth either. Fiddlerina finally insisted, with good reason, that I get a backup camera installed. So I had the original radio replaced with a Kenwood DMX system that includes a great backup camera plus radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, line in, and compatibility features for both Apple and Android phones. I love it. Proper installation cost more than the unit itself but was well worth the money. Installation involves routing wires under all the padding and trim and looks like a factory installation. I plan to get at least another 130K miles in this car so the upgrade seemed worthwhile. Dub, We are practically twins: I had the same Kenwood unit put in my 2008 4Runner. I like having Garmin navigation available for when I have no cell phone coverage, but I do not like needing to wait for it to load. Overall, a great way to get a back-up camera and hands-free phone.

Works pretty well.

Well, soon the little persons will begin appearing at my door, imploring me to give them crappy treats and I will, of course, oblige them. My neighborhood attracts a lot of trick-treaters -- I think I had 75 or so last year.
I honestly wish I could tell you I enjoy this evening of frivolity, but to be honest, if I had a TV in the basement, I would darken the house and hide out down there.
