We’ve had 10 or 12 so far including a five foot chicken. Some sort of inflatable costume that actually looked like a huge chicken.

Then there are the tweens, who don't even costume up, just pillage for sugar.
I'm definitely gonna run out of goods tonight. The darkened house looks like a sure thing.
I guess in a pinch I could hand out anchovies. Or Hamm's tallboys.

It’s 7 pm here and so far we’ve had forty kids. We got an hour or so to go. The little ones are so cute.

The first one was a little dude dressed like Michael Myers (from the Halloween movies)...complete with bloody knife prop...I gave a little yell for effect. His dad was in the yard also dressed like Michael Myers. Mom was off to the side giggling away. It was a little weird, strangely sweet and funny. Next was a very soft tap-tap-tap on the door and there was a beautiful four/five year old girl almost too shy to say 'trick or treat' but she did and got a Milky Way. Last bunch was five teenage dudes with one mask between them, couple were smoking, kinda laughing, funny guys. Nice thing about all these kids they were very polite and thanked me, some with a little prompting from Mom but a nice life lesson in manners. By the way, I was wearing my Barking Pumpkin Records t-shirt.

About 50 or 60 little (and big) urchins, far less than the 100 - 150 we have had in previous years. An inch of snow and fewer porch lights on on our block would explain it. We had a full house before and after with all granddaughters and their parents and four of our daughter's friends and their kidz. Our eldest granddaughter and her friends are 11. They have trick-or-treating down to a science, and came home with a big haul.
