I had chef duty tonight. I cooked potato sausage (made by our very good local sausage-maker), spaetzle, green salad and fruit. My understanding is that potato sausage is somehow associated with Scandinavians. The six percent of my genes that are Scandinavian were probably pleased that I made it.
What are y'all eating these days?

I pulled out all the stops. Or not. Threw together a salad with greens, carrots, onions, tomatoes p, and some pickled beets. Then I nuked leftovers, beef stroganoff from the other night. It was still pretty good. Washed all down with some Cab Franc from Terra Vina. A scoop of chocolate ice cream still to come.

I followed my genes and made a traditional Norwegian dish, nudler med tomatsaus.
It is a simple dish. I brown some hamburger and sausage with onions, garlic, green peppers, and mushrooms in a sauce pan. Then I add tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes to the mix, add a couple pinches of basil and oregano, and then let the sauce simmer for an hour or so.
When the sauce is perfect, I throw some lange tynne nudler (long skinny noodles) into a pot of boiling water for 8 minutes or so. Then I drain the noodles, put a pile on my plate and pour that tasty seasoned tomato sauce over the top. Nudler med tomatsaus! A classic Norwegian dish! So good!

Bought some foofy rolls at the store, sauteed some onions and mushrooms, grilled some burgers, and had mushroom Swiss burgers and chips.

I'm with Bob. Not literally, but we did have chicken tikka masala. The sauce was Patak's. Basmati rice and some boneless thighs. A green salad. Early dinner because I had choir practice. We are trying to get things out of the freezer in preparation for loading it with turkey and sides in a couple of weeks. I think we have some scallops in there that will be tonight's dinner.

In honor of my Semitic heritage, we will be broiling a couple of center cut pork chops this evening, along with nutritious side dishes (greens). Hey, my parents wanted to assimilate.

Shrimp Scampi with Saffon Rice. Cooking the shrimp only takes 5 minutes at most.

"In honor of my Semitic heritage, we will be broiling a couple of center cut pork chops this evening." Don't they make kosher pork chops?

"Shrimp Scampi with Saffon Rice."
I make a lot of saffron rice. I feel guilty buying saffron because it's so expensive, so I always put it on my list of desired birthday and Christmas gifts. So far, someone has always given it to me.

I bless them myself while I season them.
One of my most-used prayers: "Bless me Father, for I am about to sin." When I was a kid, my friends and I at the Cat’lic school never wanted to go to confession and tell the priest what we were actually doing. The nuns made us go. So, I hit upon the perfect plan. We’d go in there and make up a bunch of pretty boring sins and then, at the end, we’d say, “and I lied.” We figured that was the perfect confessional loop hole. It got us through some scary confessions, it kept the nuns happy because we were in there confessing our unworthiness, and we got that final absolution from the priest we just scammed.
