With your eyes closed, could you tell that's not Rawlings and Welch?

With your eyes closed, could you tell that's not Rawlings and Welch? Similar style-wise. But her voice has a different timbre. Damned MTV Now every video has to flip around between multiple views. You never get to focus on what you want to see. Looks like she has an old J45. He's got some kind of old archie.

With your eyes closed, could you tell that's not Rawlings and Welch? I agree. It seems clear to me that the guy was trying to model himself after Rawlings. The only difference is that travis picking from Caitlin. But far more importantly, it's their own song.

I was thinking it's a Kalamazoo. Because of the wide waist and low set F holes. But the very fleeting glimpse of the headstock looks like a pearl logo.
Don't have time to look into it more right now, shop awaits.

Caitlin's guitar is a Gibson made Recording King.
Chris is playing a 1930s Recording King model 853.

Hmmm. The case of the disappearing post. Hmmm. Mike Yeah, trying to edit on my phone just doesn’t work. It went away & I can’t find it. I think I said something along the lines of Critter Eldridge being a musical force of his own & he doesn’t need to copy anyone. Something like that, anyway. 🥸 He is really quite good. I think Rawlings & Welch have a very unique sound and I don’t hear it in this recording.

I do hear hints, plus Critter looks a little "Rawlings unkempt" in this video. Welch & Rawlings really defined, or created, a style of duets that has probably influenced (consciously or unconsciously, overtly or covertly) most "Americana" small groups since the late 90's.

With your eyes closed, could you tell that's not Rawlings and Welch? Not quite the bite of Gillian and Dave, but quite lovely b

I wouldn’t confuse them with Rawlings and Welch, but like them I am reminded how wonderful acoustic duo’s can be. Delmore Brothers anyone?
