Can’t sleep due to throbbing pain in my screwed up ankle so when one is in pain, can’t sleep, and sitting on the couch deciding if it’s too early to make coffee, the next step has to be starting the daily. So here it is. My car has a new battery, so it feels fine this morning. Have good ones.
Coffee is on!

Well, the guy already plowed my driveway, so I’ve got that going for me. Other than that, the noise he made woke me up a tad early. Breakfast awaits.

It was 60 years ago today. Hard to believe, isn't it? Who knows where the time goes?

Good morning. LJ, sorry you're off to a bad start.
We'll see 50s-70s with sunshine. I haven't figured out what I'll do today.

Up with coffee in hand. Nothing special going today. It turns out Rocky (who is already deaf), has cataracts as well. So now he can’t see or hear.. We may have one of his cataracts fixed.

I remember it clearly. I was in 8th grade and I will never forget it being announced over the intercom. My older sister got married on Saturday the 23rd and I saw Oswald killed on live TV on Sunday the 24th. Quite a weekend.

Good morning.
26F-45F mostly sunny.
Yesterday was a total washout. Got up as usual, posted here as usual and then things went downhill. I ended up back in bed until well after lunchtime. Will do errands that should have been done yesterday this morning and then down to the shop for a while.

Spent 2 hours at breakfast yesterday with an acquaintance. Still don't know why we got together. Talked about many friends who had died over the past few years. As well as her husband, who died during the early days of COVID. And the social club that I still belong to. She was very involved at the national level years ago, got mad about some changes, and dropped out. Maybe she'll rejoin and not be so involved.
Not much on the agenda today. I'll be baking a pumpkin pie and cooking wild rice for stuffing. And playing guitar. Yesterday I went through the entire Christmas cantata for choir. We are only 15 voices, there are many solos, and there will be many instruments, so this may be overly ambitious. I have already let the director know which solo I want so that I don't get one that I don't want.

Good morning. Overcast day here in Florida. Looks like rain in the early afternoon. I've got T day preps on the agenda for today. Our job for the big dinner is desert so I'll be spending the day purchasing a pumpkin pie, prepping fruit salad and baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies using my moms recipe. Claire has a client who's family is in town for T day and they want her to give four of them massages this afternoon. She'll be coming home exhausted this evening.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone. Feel better soon, Marty and LJ.
Up coffee, and Wordle fail. Could not come up with a fourth word. Oh well. Pulling the turkey out of the fridge this am to dry brine it, then back in the fridge waiting for tomorrows appointment with the oven. Nita is baking a couple of pies and some sides that can be done the day before, so hopefully tomorrow won’t be too stressful. Very light rain this am, then clearing for the rest of the week.

Not only the Kennedy shooting anniversary, but St. Cecelia's Day. Very pretty day here, although brisk temps (30s). I made a pie run to Trader Joe's a couple hours ago and noted the start of ice forming on Lake Johanna. TJ's was swarming with women buying flowers, and tragically, they had no pumpkin pies, ran out yesterday. So I bought a pecan pie and two of these, which Ina Garten loves!

Back from errands and a bit poorer for all the effort but we have what we need for T-Day. Now a nice sit down and a small cup of eggnog before heading down to the shop for a while.

Ahh, coffeeeee. A "shop while I was hungry" trip to Costco yesterday resulted in a spiral-cut ham, ribs, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and a case of Heineken. The main reason I had gone to the store was to get AA batteries.

So are those apples really from France? Or just the "Tart?"

So are those apples really from France? Or just the "Tart?" TJ's explanation: To create this masterpiece of a Tart, our supplier takes a buttery apricot and apple filling (made with sweet Northern Spy apples and tart Granny Smiths), nestles it in a shortbread crust, tops it with a fan of even more sliced apples, and finishes it with a light, apricot glaze. A thing of rustic beauty.
Now, you might raise an eyebrow when you notice that our French Apple Tart is made here in the U.S.A., but before you raise that other eyebrow, consider this: the Master Pastry Chef who developed this recipe once made this exact tart—which is constructed and baked according to French tradition—for the President of France himself. Spoiler alert: he loved it.

I wrote a horribly punny headline today, something I hardly ever do, and now I feel so ... soiled.

No, I’m talking about a real French tart, not some sugary pastry.
