Our apple pie. Mike Shouldn't the "A" be scarlet?

Evening!
I lucked out and got the very last smoked turkey at L&M Meats. I guess most people had called up earlier and reserved a bird. Making two Thanksgiving meals this year. Turkey on Thursday, lasagna on Friday. I think that between lasagna, spaghetti, and pizza, I would need no other sustenance. Except maybe for meatloaf, beef stroganoff, and grilled ribeye.

Turkey on Thursday, lasagna on Friday. I think that between lasagna, spaghetti, and pizza, I would need no other sustenance. Except maybe for meatloaf, beef stroganoff, and grilled ribeye. I recall the year I offered to bring a smoked turkey to Eau Claire to spare my seester from having to roast one. My beloved BBQ joint, Big Daddy's in St. Paul (now gone), was offering them at the right size, albeit not cheap. But I ordered one regardless. It was a gorgeous thing to behold, and of course traveled well, needing no refrigeration. After singing "We Gather Together" en masse, we started to pass around dishes as I manned the electric carving knife, creating pretty slices of pristine poultry. But guess what? It was so salty that it was nearly inedible. Gravy atop seemed to offer no relief. Diners were polite, but there were huge mounds of uneaten bird by meal's end. Why does smoking make meats taste so salty? It's one reason I stopped using my primitive charcoal smoker years ago.

Smoking does not make meat taste salty. Salt makes meat taste salty. Perhaps this explains why your bbq place is no longer in business.

Mike No, it's no longer in business because the owners/founders were getting on in years and they got an attractive offer to sell their property for a mixed-used development.

Strangely enough, the mixed-use development was headed by Saline Property Development, Inc., who normally specializes in beachfront properties.

Amazon is supposed to deliver a complete turkey dinner between 1 & 3 PM. They better not bring cold gravy like last year.
