Well, I knocked over a guitar and did some damage for the first time in a very long time. It’s my Stonebridge, which is a Furch. Broke one of my tuners, which I thought, no big deal.
I never really think much about tuners unless they don’t work well, and these one’s always have, so no concerns one way or the other. They are Schallers. I thought I might need to buy a complete set, and they are over $300; I just about fell off my chair. Fortunately, you can buy just one on the Schaller website, but they only offer ebony and chrome buttons now, and mine are more of a tortoiseshell. Sent them a note asking about that, but if it comes to it, I’ll just buy a new set of buttons.
Could have bought a complete set of Gotohs that would drop in for $60, but the Schallers are fine. I never also never thought much about the gold finish, assuming it was brass. It’s 24k gold plating. Apparently I have a snazzy guitar.

Can’t you take the the button off your tuner and put it on the new one? Or did you break the button?

Can’t you take the the button off your tuner and put it on the new one? Or did you break the button? Yeah, the button snapped in half. Wrecked the gears inside, as it’ll only go about a half turn now. Could have been worse.

Put a button from another tuner on the nonworking one and I'd lay odds it works. Meaning all you need is a button.

Just a thought. Assuming Marty is right, I might just put on a non matching button and wear it proudly, as a part of the instruments history. But I’m weird like that.

Perhaps you could get a new button and a very small spray can and spray a sunburst on the new button. I'm just sayin'.
