Anybody using one of these gizmos? I picked up the little Ninja air fryer last week and have been experimenting. Not sure how I feel about it. It seems like it's part microwave part grill but not quite as good at either one of those at the specific task. First up I oiled and seasoned some cauliflower and sweet potatoes slices. Came out...just ok. Next up I did some Cajun seasoned chicken wings. Better. On a scale of 1-10 maybe an 8. But doing them the slow way on the grill is still a 10. I was about to call it a failed experiment but tried some oiled and seasoned chicken tenders which came out really good in like 10 minutes.
If you use one what's your go to?

I read an amusing column the other day by a reporter who tried to duplicate Taco John's Potatoes Ole in an air fryer. Sounds like she got pretty close.

I have yet to find the recipe that justifies our purchase. So it sits in the basement with the other misfit toys.

The kids have been talking up air fryers for a couple years and my wife broke down and got one a month or two ago. She loves it.
Myself, I'm not picky so I wouldn't know.

We had an old one, that we got rid of. It just didn’t do a decent job — it was round 1, from several years ago. They’ve improved them. Were thinking about buying one of those, when Susan was reading that all they really are is a convection oven. So she found a grill/pan, where the grill sits suspended in the pan, that will supposedly work in a convection oven, which we have. Sure enough, it works fairly well. Fries turn out decent, and the chicken wings are pretty good, too.

I love mine and use it constantly. I think I'd have to blow the dust off my microwave if I were to use it. They become really useful when you stop thinking of it as a convection oven instead of a fryer. It's perfect for things like warming up pizza, and I did a nice Iowa chop in it last night.

The girls talked us into one because they use one all the time. But they do things like Pizza Rolls, French fries and other fried snack foods. Doing Tater Tots it is good at but not better than the oven. Potato Oles are just deep fried Potato Crowns with the right seasonings so You could do them in an air fryer.
That said, the girls use ours a lot more than we do.

My wife has one and she loves it. I'm not sure why. Every time she cooks something in it I wish she'd cooked it some other way.

Thought I already posted this. Maybe posted where it didn't belong.
Don't have an air fryer and don't want one. We have too many cooking gadgets already. Toaster oven, microwave, toaster, 2 electric woks, 2 stovetop woks, 2 crockpots, etc. Plus our electric range has two ovens. The reason for some of the duplication is that we both had things before we were married 40 years ago and still have them.

I'd say don't try to "fry" anything, it doesn't work great for that. Even with that air fryer coating. Another use I found for mine is hard boiled eggs. Warm it up to 250 and put them in for 13 minutes. Cool them down with ice water as usual. Boy do they peel easy.

I never really cared for fried air. Never even understood why folks would do that. The air in a mail truck in summer is hot enough without actually frying it, and I can tell you ... it isn't pleasant.

We have a combo air fryer, toaster oven, convection oven. Cuisinart. We use it a lot. It does not do ice cream well but we like it for everything else. Fried air is almost calorie free unless you use breading which adds 2-3,000 calories.
