Very cool. The Heinkel 162 was made by the Germans at the end of WWII as a bomber interceptor. It couldn’t stay up for very long, eating through the fuel, but nothing could catch it. Quite a wild little plane. This guy built an RC model. Crazy how they prime the engine, and man, is it fast. He knows how to fly it. When they ran out of fuel, they would glide back to base, which left them every vulnerable. This one does that perfectly.

You know, it could've been a ducted fan and still flown, it didn't need to be a pulse jet. They still use pulse jets in control line speed, so I guess to each his own.

I enjoyed flying model planes for over 20 years but no one seems to fly them here now. There was a club about 20 miles North of me when we moved here but it was too windy usually for me and I sold my planes and building stuff to a couple of members of the club about 12 years ago after deciding I didn't want to fly in the wind with my eyesight failing. I tried but I put an SE5 into a tree which was fun to get down. I kept an electric trainer in case I changed my mind but it's still sitting here in my office room. Tried to sell it, radio and battery chargers included for $100 and got no offers. Tried to give it away just to make space but still got no offers. Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted and my eyesight wouldn't let me fly real planes when I tried that back in 1970. I do watch the videos on Youtube when they pop up but they're usually from Europe.

One of the original variants of the HE 162 used a pulse jet. Could very well be that whomever these folks were, they wanted to replicate that.

Yes, I also assumed that it was to be true to the original design.

Wow. German technology was impressively advanced. Not only did they develop the first jet powered fighter/bomber, they also developed the first leaf blower!
