Good morning. There's a 90 percent chance of rain today but nothing's happening yet.
I slept until after five, which is unheard of. Yesterday I took a fairly hefty hike in our mountain preserve and I was feeling it for the rest of the day. That means I need to do it more often. It was very pleasant.
Today I'll attend one of the two annual business meetings at church. We'll discuss finances. It doesn't make my heart go pitty-pat but it has to be done.
Enjoy your day.

This is supposed to be the start of the warm up. I hope so. I am tired of cold. All things shall pass, except never pass on an icy two lane highway. Wear warm socks.

Good morning. Almost hit freezing last night, 33 degrees. Supposed to warm up to the mid 50's this afternoon. Nothing much on the agenda today other than Tampa Bay vs. Detroit this evening. Bucs/Lions followed by Lightning/Red Wings. Have good ones.

Good puzzle day for me. I got connections (I'm starting to get the hang of it), got waffle with 5 to spare (as good as it gets) and wordle in 3 (I've come to accept that any more than 3 guesses constitutes a loss -- and I lose more than I win. My most common result is 4 guesses, and that by a long shot).
This is a strange Sunday. I'm not doing Amazon. For the first time in 3 years (to the best of my recollection. As a sub it's always been mandatory). I'm now a regular and I can do Amazon for the overtime, but only every other Sunday.
I've got a few bulbs to change in the two vehicles and I might try to bag up glazes I've been drying out for 3 years now (waiting for the water to evaporate from 20 gallons of glaze takes a minute).
Today (unusually) I am writing everything with lots of parentheses.

People line up to have their photos taken with the Bartz brothers’ latest snow sculpture, “Sparky,” named after the famous Como Zoo sea lion, in New Brighton on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024. The 21-foot-tall and 48-foot-long sculpture took over 1,200 hours to create and comes complete with a smoke machine in the seal’s mouth. New Brighton’s Brave the BRRR celebration kicked off on Saturday with the unveiling of the Bartz brothers’ snow sculpture at Brightwood Hills Golf Course. The winter celebration will feature a Brrrzaar Weekend Market, amateur snow sculpture contest, food trucks and, of course, Austin and Connor Bartz’s latest creation. It runs through Feb. 4. Today is the start of our warm up. To celebrate, Todd Frank and the Cedar River whalers will be performing at the Mercantile in Garrison, Iowa! We ran through our final practice yesterday and we're ready to go. The only problem for me, will be staying away from all that wonderful food, I don't like to sing on a full stomach, so I'll maybe just sneak a few little samples.

Our warmup is starting, as well -- high of 21 predicted today and then the next 10 days they're saying highs in the 30s and even 40s. I guess maybe not putting on my winter tires might be OK. I'll get the car washed today.
Packers fought the good fight -- I thought both playoff games were played well. Lamar Jackson of the Ravens is amazing.
I woke up this morning craving pork chops -- will I act on it, that is the question.

Good morning.
2F-22F mostly sunny.
Usual Sunday stuff. As Billy Bob stated it's warming up in the next few days so I can also get the truck washed. The cats are now used to going out when it's cold. It takes them a while to get the idea that Summer is gone. We are very careful when it's really cold and set a timer to remind us to check on them if out. Don't want to find a kitty-sickle on the porch. Yes we keep a cat box but they really prefer to go out.
58 Days Until Spring.

They started in the late 70s and even opened for The Animals a few times, but they just never made the big time. They played small clubs, bars, and high school auditoriums for years and then they settled into doing state fairs. Last I heard they were doing the casino circuit with only one surviving original member. Dizzy Dooley, founding member, leads a bunch of hired kids through the band repertoire of almost hit songs. You can cruise the buffet, have an Iowa chop, and then see Iowa Chop perform.

Today (unusually) I am writing everything with lots of parentheses. You can vary the pattern with pairs of em-dashes. Stuff—aside stuff—more stuff. No need to thank me.

Got 1/10" of rain in the wee hours. Plus another 1/10" drizzle so far starting about an hour ago. More predicted over the next few days. Unless it starts raining a lot harder, we'll be going to church. Then we'll stop on the way home to buy new wiper blades. They don't get used much around here, but they do tend to rot in the sun.
Looks like a good day to mostly stay inside. We'll be making a Hawaiian pork roast. Planning to use the pressure cooker. This is an 8 pound bone-in roast, so we may need to cut it to squeeze it in.
Hawaiian Pork Roast
3 1/2 - 4 lb pork roast 8 oz can tomato sauce 1/2 C soy sauce 1 C water 3/4 C sugar 1 T dry mustard 3 T rice vinegar fresh ginger to taste fresh garlic to taste
Mix ingredients and pour over pork. Cook in pressure cooker on high for one hour.
(Yeah, that's a lot of salt and sugar, but the soy is half of what was in the original recipe from our Hawaiian friend and we also cut down the amount of sugar.)

You can vary the pattern with pairs of em-dashes. Stuff—aside stuff—more stuff. No need to thank me. Thanks -- I think. On an iPhone or iPad, you can press-hold the dash key and you’ll be presented with a choice of characters including the dash, en-dash, and em-dash. This makes it easy to use the actual em-dash character. I’m guessing Android devices have some similar mechanism. Also, traditional typography doesn’t allow for spaces surrounding an em-dash when used this way. OK, now you can thank me..

Think I found my pork chop! Memorias de Tabay, a pork chop in a blackberry sauce with fondant potatoes, at Crasqui on St. Paul’s West Side, a newish Venezuelan restaurant. (Pioneer Press photo)

Still dealing with the last 20% of the crud. Its going to warm up to 30 today so going to try and do a short slow hike behind the house. Thawing stuff out on the counter for taco meat and beef enchiladas.

"Today (unusually) I am writing everything with lots of parentheses."
That can get distracting (for some people (of whom I’m one (due to certain English teachers in my youth (including the comely Miss Green)))).

Morning.
Yesterday I was a Packer fan pulling hard. Today I will be roaring with the Lions.
Strange times.
