The British "Professor T" is based on a Belgian series that PBS ran earlier. Interesting to see the differences in the way the character is handled. And the Belgian T and Monk don't seem to come across as quite the same--even when he's being a pain in the ass, Tony Shaloub's Monk is kinda cuddly.

Evidently, it isn't in English (why should it be) but there are subtitles.

Ben Miller played a very similar character in the first season of Death in Paradise.

Monk without the great theme songs. I dunno. Too often Professor T seems to go for the cheap laughs rather than developing its dramatic arc. Plus Captain Strottlemeyer (Monk) went real dark real quick while questioning a suspect early in his career.

Nothing cuddly about Doc Martin either. But he's funny as heck.

Haven't seen Professor T.
I think Monk was one of the better TV shows ever made.

The final season of Doc Martin is being aired now. The show has had me laughing out loud for years. Not much does that. I'll really miss it.

I remember seeing Randy Newman quite some time back and he said he had finally written the rest of the song (they only needed the first minute or so, so that is all he wrote), here it is:
