Good morning. I have been waking earlier every day.
Yet another day of chill and gray skies. I would love to see the sun again. It has been at least 11 days or more since it last appeared. Maybe it needs some coaxing.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day. Stay warm. Stay dry.

Good morning. Howard, it's hard to keep on the sunny side when there isn't one.
We'll have a nice morning, then a windy afternoon, then a rainy night. Between 1/2 and 3/4 inch of rain is expected. January and February are our secondary rainy season and we're expected to see several days of rain in the next week.
This morning I'll attend my Zoom social breakfast and then buy groceries. This afternoon I'll help to remove a photography exhibit at our church that's been up for about a month. Come Saturday I'll help to install the next exhibit.
Have a good day.

Good morning. Another sunny chilly day here in Florida. Feeling much better physically today so I guess I've turned the corner on my recovery from my fall last weekend. Today I've got first day of the month finances, errands to run and guitars to play. Happy February everyone!

Good morning
30F-47F -> SUNNY <-
I'll get that Yamaha out of the clamps and cleaned up today but first thing is the damn car wash. I'll go while others are working, not at lunch time. Then I'll get to the shop and a few projects I have going.
47 Days Until Spring.

My hospital has a policy, as regards insurance and insurance inquiries, they won't sign off on a "driving ok" for a right knee replacement until after the six week post-op examination by the surgeon (along with good PT reports). My wife made me follow that policy (I was ready to drive a month ago, in my opinion).
Anyhoo, yesterday was my six-week post-op checkup. After some poking and prodding and visiting, he said, "Ok, let's go out to the hallway, I want to watch you walk and then do some tests. I walked down the hall smooth as a goat in hayfield. Halfway back, on the return trip, I broke into a little jig and then did some (my version) ballerina twirls and a few karate kicks.
"STOP! You'll break something! You can drive! We'll skip the rest, back to my office."
Back home, that afternoon, I decided, ok, I can drive, so I'm going go driving. And I hopped in the car. Hadn't driven for six weeks. Cool! I'm driving again. Super Cool! Where I should go?
I went to Culvers!
It was my first hamburger in six weeks, also!
Life is good!

Endless days of gray skies, punctuated only by bouts of drizzle. (Snow would be preferred). My song for February is Tales of Brave Ulysses, with its famous opening line: "You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever"
Main activity for the day is a trip to Elderly Instruments. My Farida OT-22 has been living in a light gig bag; I am going to upgrade to a hard shell case. This is prompted by twin toddlers, who venture into every nook and cranny in our house and climb over everything. I will of course check out a few Martin 000/OM models and a Chuck Lee openback banjo, but hanging out in guitar shops and playing the high-priced merchandise is no longer as thrilling as it used to be.

You want a thrill?
Go six weeks without a hamburger.
Then go to Culvers!

Good morning, all.
Flu season continues in the clinic, so life is busy.
Life is going well, though, so no complaints.

Morning! Played the old/new ES-135 at band practice last night. Sounded great. Had to adjust a little on lead parts as the sustain is shorter than a typical solid body electric.
Ran up to the big city of Hamilton this morning as the "Pssst.Wanna buy some crab legs?" guys were in town for a few hours selling king crab out of the back of a truck. Time for one of the neighborhood surf and turf gathering at Casa De Esteve.

I DID get the truck washed but had to wait in line. When I parked and stepped inside the station for two minutes to get the wash ticket the line at the car wash went from two cars to 6 cars.
I did get the Yamaha out of the clamps but Tyler showed up so I had him help me with a project I've been putting off for a long time. I have a service cart that I use for a guitar case table to lay down and open a case without putting it on the floor. I also use it for clamp storage but have to put the clamps lying on the bottom shelf where they are a jumbled mess. It has four wheels and tends to move by itself on the uneven shop floor, PITA. So I removed the two swivel wheels from the rear and replaced them with a solid foot leaving the two fixed wheels in the front. Then we mounted two solid 1 1/2" dowel rods between the front and back supports to hang large clamps from. Now all the small clamps are easy to get at in their baskets in the bottom area and the large clamps are right at hand along the sides.
Break time and maybe some lunch.

I bought one of Mark Kopfler's guitars. Now I have to work til I die to pay for it. Hopefully that comes sooner than I think. I don't want to be an 80 year old mailman.
Maybe I shouldn't have splurged for the Les Paul with all the autographs. Who knew they wouldn't check my credit

Mine are cheaper Millring. I have two ready for fretboard leveling and fretting. Then finish sanding and off to finish. Here are the two shamrocks “in situ”. I still kind of like the genetically modified one. The Rosewood one is my first Cedar topped instrument. It has Maple inner sides. Jim Olson gave me the top about four years ago when I was down to buy some Brazilian from him. Apparently there were some minor blemishes after thickness sanding that he said he couldn’t use for a $40,000 guitar. IMG_1617 by Terence Kennedy, on Flickr IMG_1621 by Terence Kennedy, on Flickr

Cedar over rosewood?! Get thee behind me, Kennedy! (Though I would admire to play it when it's finished.)

I DID get the truck washed but had to wait in line. When I parked and stepped inside the station for two minutes to get the wash ticket the line at the car wash went from two cars to 6 cars. Cruised over to the Solar car wash two hours ago, fed in a fiver and two singles, no waiting, got an excellent wash and dry, was in and out in like 5 minutes. Car looks great, even the wheels are shiny. On edit, what's funny to me is that all of the 15 or so self-service spots were full, wherein people were pumping in quarters like mad and slaving away. I know from experience that choosing that route takes at least $5 to do a halfway decent job, and then you still have to dry it somehow or just drive off and live with the water marks. Spend $7 and sit in your car and get it washed and dried, people! That price, BTW, hasn't budged in like 10 years. I find that a bargain.

I got back to the shop after dark last night and was pleasantly surprised to see a sky full of stars. I’d forgotten what it was like. was a long day, I’m tired, but it is Thursday night and that means boardwalk empire night to Sue,so I’ll try to stay awake through the episode.

I am so delighted that you're building again, Terry. The world needs more Kennedy guitars. 😉

Agreed. And I love the birdseye back and sides.
