Good morning. Another nice winter day here in Florida. I'm off to the Chinsegut Conservation Center for a session with the Audubon folks. Today's a training session on the Merlin app which among other things identifies bird calls. Should be interesting. Have a great day folks.

I wish I'd learned more about birds.
Good morning. We'll have 40s-60s, without the wind that made yesterday pretty unpleasant. At 10:00 I'll help to install a photo exhibit. This evening I'll make tacos and we'll watch Doc Martin.
Enjoy your day.

Oo-wee, life goes on.
Last night we took my wife out for her birthday; my son and his girlfriend joined us. The restaurant serves Persian cuisine, and the owner, Ms. Alikhani, came here from Iran 35 years ago after studying in law school to be a judge. Here, read: www.sofrehnyc.com/
The food is exquisite, seasoned to perfection, the atmosphere relaxing, service cordial. We shared some lovely appetizers. I enjoyed the braised lamb with fava beans that was out of this world. The rest of it is waiting for me to have lunch later.
Today: making breakfast for the girls, some paperwork organizing, music, a walk, lamb sandwich for lunch. I repaired a lamp for a retired friend down the street, and will be returning it this afternoon and staying for tea.
Life in Brooklyn is very exciting.

Good morning
30F-43F mostly sunny.
Saturday shop and I will have a few people coming by. The work on the Yamaha continues and then I have 4 Harmony. A jumbo, tenor and 3/4 parlor all for new bridges plus a mandolin for a new top.
45 Days Until Spring.

Much like Howard, will be celebrating my wife’s birthday today with a meal out (although Persian sounds wonderful it will be something more generic here in the heartland) and music with some friends. A week ago was an rc swap meet that I sold a few things at, next week will be another. Need a guitar swap meet, while I want to divest myself of a few guitars, I really don’t want to ship them anywhere and that limits the buying pool. Oh well. Billy Strings and Chris Thile were on CBS Saturday morning: www.cbsnews.com/video/saturday-sessions-billy-strings-and-chris-thile-perform-wild-bill-jones/

Cloudy as usual, maybe a little sun later. Working on shelves and selling some extraneous stuff on FB Marketplace and eBay.

Our record January warm spell is into to its third day of February! This is one for the books, for sure. How far can it go?

I got the last of my tax documents yesterday so I filed my federal and state taxes. It's always nice to get that behind me. Ours are very simple. I have used a program called Tax Act for several years.

The Merlin app is very cool.
It feels cold out today, and the sky is gray. I had breakfast with my friend George this morning, now I’m in the coffee shop making a shopping list then off to the grocery store. Exciting day indeed.

Very fun Saturday Shop. 3 clients stopped by to either drop off or pick up work and stayed to talk shop. Very much like an old Podium Saturday Shop.

I got the phone call today that I always love getting -- Barb calling to tell me that halibut arrived from her Sitka Salmon Shares subscription, and would I like to come over for supper tonight? Twist my arm!

Had a big day yesterday (and the night before). Yesterday was a memorial service for a 70 yo female friend who died of metastatic breast cancer. It was really rugged on her the last couple years. Sue and I went to see her in the hospital on Christmas Day. I brought a guitar. She always said I was her favorite singer in the whole world (after James Taylor). She slept most the time we were there, but when she woke up, her hubby said, "the Hjertstedts are here and Marshall brought a guitar." She smiled and made a circular motion with her finger, which meant she wanted "Merry-go-round." Which I played. I held it together pretty well, except when I looked in the corner, and her daughter was balling her eyes out. But I got through it. Then she asked if I'd sing it at her funeral service. - She died a week later.
So, I did yesterday.
Very emotional day. The church was packed. Standing room only. I told the hospital story before playing the song. I'm pretty mechanical when performing, but telling the story broke me apart.
Also retired pastor and good friend, Steve Pierce did the homily. And he knocked it out of the park. Very emotional day.
Plus other friends were in from out of town for the memorial service. We went out to dinner the night before with them and hubby, and I drove them to the airport after the service.
Then I crashed and slept last evening.
But today is another day.

Marshall, You are a good friend.
I started my day with a 10:00 a.m. appointment with Justin Green of Tualatin, Oregon, who said he would be at my house to look at, and possibly purchase, my motorcycle. I cleaned up the bike and passed up a trip to the park with my son waiting for Justin to show. At 10:30 I phoned and emailed Justin indicating I would move on to the next potential buyer if he did not show. An hour and a-half later he sent me an email saying "Sorry for the delayed reply, David. My kids ended up sick this morning, so I’m not able to make it."
My response: "I hope your kids are okay. I hope you grow to be more respectful of other people's time."
Justin is a 46 year old man. He owns his own home. He is married and has children. I cannot imagine myself at that stage of life being so inconsiderate. I hope he grows up.
Despite Justin's wasting of my time, I did complete some pruning and yard clean up.

Does is seem that Wordle is becoming more desperate for words lately? I will not mention today's word, but one from about a week ago was "LEGGY." Not a commonly used word in my world.

Halibut was fab, seared in brown butter and finished in the oven. Brought some home -- fish for breakfast?

Halibut was fab, seared in brown butter and finished in the oven. Brought some home -- fish for breakfast? Jesus cooked wild-caught fish for his disciples for breakfast on the shores of Galilee. So, yeah. Years ago I had a fabulous fish breakfast at Brennan's in New Orleans with my uncle.
