I’m sure glad those vids are still available, Bill. Thanks for the memories.

I’m sure glad those vids are still available, Bill. Thanks for the memories. Hey, you turned me on to that guitar in Ioway and talked me into buying it! Hope you got a commission!

Dating "yourself" with something made out of carbon fiber sounds a little kinky.

I remember that guitar floating around. And how great you made it sound, Bill.

The fingerboard on that guitar was pretty slippy, which is the excuse I am employing for those notes that are a fret too high.

I think the first time I met you Bill was a Podium lunch at the 421. It was below zero and we were talking about carbon fiber guitars.
You said something like “I’ll go get mine it’s in my trunk “. You brought it in, ice cold, opened the case, it immediately got covered with condensation which you wiped off and was in perfect tune. I was impressed.
Nice picking!

Nicely done.
I'm truly unhappy with the state of carbon fiber guitar lutherie. The companies still standing seem to all have to do cockamamie things to get attention. I think there's a solid market for a CF guitar with a center hole (like a real guitar) and X-bracing in classic neck profiles, but NO, the companies still standing all have to do quirky un-guitar like things to get attention.
I almost fell in love with the RainSong I had, but the 20" radius neck irked me. My Gibson and Eastman guitars are 12" R necks. Just too much adjustment going one to another. And the sustain of a flat unbraced top was just different enough that I always felt a little off.
Composite Acoustics were the best sounding. But their necks weren't right for me either. Damn Bob Taylor and his stratocaster necks. He started it all.

Composite Acoustic GX. Mine is one of my best all around acoustics and gets played a lot. No, it maybe doesn't sound as "good" as a custom shop Martin but it still sounds really good to my ear. Then you have the whole no maintenance leave it out on a wall hanger and the action never changes and it sounds great plugged in aspect which the older I get the more I care about.

I always sit in my living room with my guitar next to me in a stand. I just now reached out and picked up my guitar by the neck and was hit out of the blue by an OMG that neck feels good. This is what I get for sitting next to the guy building my guitar as he carved the neck and commenting as he goes. It was by far the best thing about commissioning a guitar.

I wanted to like a Klos. They come with a detachable neck. I thought if I didn't like the neck I could have one made to my specifications. But, alas, the sound was so mediocre I sent it back.
So far my Enya is the closest to what I would like in a CF guitar. It has bracing and a center soundhole. It's small like a GS-Mini and sounds similar. Not perfect, but playable and enjoyable.

Well, see, if you're a sloppy player with a tin ear it's a whole lot easier to be satisfied with a guitar.
My Cargo is great for throwing in the car for long trips.

Fifteen years ago, in PaulKay's basement in Cheeseland: Very nice... but why do you never post anything from your "The Banjo and Me" recordings?

Is there supposed to be audio on that?

I’m pretty sure the Cargo will be the guitar I’m left with at the end. Damage proof, nice size, perfect couch guitar. Travels, as David said, very well.
