Good morning. Cool this morning, going to get up into the 70's later today, nice weather. I've got a busy weekend ahead of me. I've got a birding outing with the Audubon folks this morning. After that it's the grandsons 5th birthday Sunday so tonight we're going to Monster Jam at the stadium. Tomorrow it's the zoo where they have a special event with animatronic dinosaurs scattered around the zoo. I also booked a giraffe encounter for him and his parents to feed a giraffe up close and personal. And then there's the Stupor Bowl........Should be a fun weekend, but busy.
Have a great day folks.

That's a great agenda, Ken.
Good morning, everyone. We had more showers during the night. Today it's supposed to clear up with temperatures in the 40s to 50s. I'll make some chili for dinner. That's about it.

I have a Word A Day calendar. Seems today’s word is Saturday. I already knew that one. I used to play Stormy Weather. Think I will dust it off and see if my fingers remember it today. Enjoy the day.

Good morning
25F-35F partly cloudy.
Saturday Shop and I think it's going to be another busy one, fun. Yesterday I got several good solid hours of work only taking short breaks. Slowly my stamina is building up so I can stand at my bench. Don't think I'll be able to do 10-12 hours a day like I did a few years back but at least I can get work done again.
I heard rumor that the girls are inviting themselves to breakfast tomorrow, that will be nice, expensive but nice. Being Super Bowl Sunday grocery shopping will be interestingly busy as people franticly rush to get ready for "The Big Game". Me, I got other stuff to do.
We have had a very mild Winter and as we approuch March I'm waiting for the Gods of Winter to come down on us with vengeful force.
38 Days Until Spring.

Another nice day, sunshine and temps above normal.
I need to make a trip to the grocery store for basics, but for dinners for the next week I'm stumped. Nothing sounds good to me. I'll probably get a frozen pizza for tomorrow, but I'll add pepperoni, green olives, black olives, onion and cheese, before I bake it.

Yesterday we walked over to San Pedro Chapel for the big neighborhood "Treasures and Trifles" sale. No plans to go anywhere today, which is good. The temperature is supposed to linger in the 40s before dropping to the low 30s. And it's raining and is supposed to turn to snow. Breakfast will be Eggs Benedict made by Mr. H. My payment is a lot of cleanup after. Instead of English muffins, he will use whole wheat biscuits that he made from a new recipe.

As you all probably know is our lab Rocky has cataracts in both eyes and we had been pursuing getting those fixed since he has also been deaf since he was a puppy. But since his eye exam a couple weeks ago, he has developed an ulcer from a deep scratch (probably caused by the eye exam). So yesterday they had to fix that by essentially abrading his cornea (making the eye a complete mess) then put a contact lens over it to heal for 2 weeks. So the surgery has been cancelled for now and he's on pain pills and wearing a cone for 2 weeks and antibiotic drops 3 times a day. So he's deaf, blind in one eye and can't see out the other. Life sucks.

Sun and springlike temperatures have been replaced by clouds and a cold north wind.
Dealing with a chest cold and muddling about the house. Friends who have already been exposed to all the extant cold viruses coming for dinner.

Slept in late today. Feeling lots better though. Pretty cold out, at 37°, but dry. No plans for the day, other than to figure out something for dinner. Time for a second cup of coffee.

I met and hung out with William Del Pilar Jr for an afternoon about 10 years ago. He saw me peering in the window of their former shop on Atlantic Avenue and waved me in. We sat and chatted for a couple of hours; he showed me one or two of his beautifully crafted guitars (naturally, GAS for a classical guitar settled upon me), which are wonderfully intonated; and then he performed a couple of his modern classical compositions for me. It was a delightful experience. I still look half-seriously for Del Pilar guitars for sale. Unless I were Willie Nelson, nylon strings are not a good fit for what I do.
Señor Del Pilar has since retired, sold the building, and repaired to a home somewhere in the Hudson Valley. Last time I passed by, there was a catering business in the old Del Pilar shop.
You're saying the requinto is sold?

Alas, yes. Had it been yet available I would have MADE you go and get it. For me, if you didn't want it.

That's the kind of experience that makes life worth living. Wow.

Agreed. I enjoyed a great deal the time he so generously offered to spend—and with a non-classical hack like me.
