Sue got back from the grocery store. I complained because we haven't had potato chips in a while. So she bought some. We get the low sodium Lays when we get them. And as it turns out there was a sale; Buy 2 get 3 free ! They're normally $3.50 a bag. Now we have 5 bags ! (for about $7.00)
Such a deal !

I spent a couple falls working for a potato farmer. He would contract with Simplot, a potato processor in Grand Forks. Sometimes we would haul direct from the field to the factory to give the factory enough spuds on hand to get the ball rolling, frying up chips, fries, and tator tots for the new spud season.
I would follow the digger out in the field until I had my truck loaded, then I would take off like a bat out of hell for Simplot. Pulling into the scale room, they would weigh the truck and then pull a sample of spuds from the truck which they would fry up right on the spot to see if the spuds fried up with a nice light color and made grade. Then they would give us drivers that still hot sample in a fat bag filled to the brim with the freshly fried, fresh from the field, chips (or fries, depending on the contract).
Man, I loved that gig!

Zapp’s. Great Lakes. Deep River. Kettle. Utz. No Pringles! Pringles are like ketchup on a hot dog. Simply not done.

Bring in a truck of corn you get a moisture reading. Potatoes, you are offered a taste test I'd be all into that!

I used to do taxes for a very large agricultural concern that farmed berries. Strawberries, raspberries, etc. Whenever we'd stop by the main office/headquarters we'd hit up the breakroom, which was full trays of berries that were too ripe to be taken to market. Essentially they were perfect for eating right then or in the next couple of days. It was awesome.

They don't do that with corn either.
