Good morning. The wife and daughter are grinding me down. They walk too fast, blaze through everything, and don't care if I fall behind because I am taking a photo or people insinuate themselves between me and my family.
Here's a sunrise over Southeast London.
Anyway, we're sort of getting the hang of getting around in this city and have been enjoying it. Last night we saw the most amazing post-post-modern production of "Th Picture of Dorian Grey," a one-woman show with the actress interacting with videos of herself on large screens with the other characters (all played by her) and very intense musical score. The star was Sarah Snook, with whom any of you who watched the TV series "Succession" will be familiar. She was quite incredible and brilliant.
At the National Portrait Gallery the other day, I encountered this portrait of the Bard himself, said to be the only one known to have been made from life.
And this one is mostly for Shannon. CS Lewis is interred in the Poets' Corner of Westminster Abbey, along with a cohort of his brilliant fellow authors.
We're off to Kings Cross Station later to meet my young cousin, who is studying at Cambridge, and then to Camden Market. He'll spend the day with us and then go to dinner at Nora Ephron's favorite eatery here. Frazer says we may see a British celebrity or two at this place. Will I recognize any of them?
Cheers from the East End.

Howard, you certainly aren't having routine days. Looks like a great trip.
Good morning everyone. It'll be a mild day here. This morning Diane and I may go to a nearby farmer's market in search of fresh produce.
Stay well.

Good morning. London is one of my favorite cities in the world. Have a great time Howard.
Sunny and cool here in Florida. Today is the day I get my new hearing aids. I've got a 10 am appointment at the VA to get them fitted and set up. Good stuff!
Have a great day folks.

Another beautiful summer day here, 59 degrees expected.
I have errands to do in Cedar Rapids so I'll plan a trip there, timed so I'll be there for lunch. I'll pass on Culver's today in favor of Hy Chi (Hy Vee Chinese restaurant)

Morning all. Howard’s trip sounds great. Rainy day here. I’ll make a Traders run and stop by Whole foods later for some packs of King Arther gluten free pancake mix. We discovered it a couple of years back while on a camping trip trip with a family friend who has celiac desease. It turned out so good that it has become a staple for us, and our go to whenever we want pancakes. We want a couple of packs of it as we will be hosting both Nita’s folks and her Sister and brother in law over spring break in the desert.
That’s pretty much the day.

I hesitate to go the full bore hearing aid route as I tend to lose things and I remove my amplifiers when listening to music even though they amplify the full spectrum of audible frequencies as opposed to the selective boost in hearing aids. My wife would kill me if I lost a hearing aid.

Good morning.
25F-47F mostly sunny.
Another nice day and I'll be out in for a least a little while as I have yet another Doctor appointment. It will be a quick visit today and then I'll get some shop time in and probably some house chores.
Glad you're having a good time Howard. I'd love to go to London and the UK in general.

I'm dragging today, much sleeplessness last night, and a couple nasty leg cramps, plus totally bizarro dreams.
Maybe it was caused by the underwhelming food I got at the new "Latin" place I tried yesterday -- nothing very spicy, but maybe that was the problem!
Eager to hear how Jan & Bonny's gig went yestiddy.

Rodger playing a Gibson C-1 nylon string. Backed up by Kenneth (Thumbs) Carllile with his Tele played on his lap. Edit: The Gibson does have some sort of pickup or mic installed. It may be a Prismatone pickup but I think the video was done before the introduction of the Prismatone.

If that doesn't work for you, there are some relatively cheap over-the-counter hearing aids now that can be adjusted for your particular hearing loss range. Missed conversations and self-isolation from the inability to hear can cause problems. I am trying to get money from an insurance adjuster today to repair the house my son is renting. The adjuster is from Minnesota and came to Oregon temporarily to help with all the recent storm damage claims. Those Minnesota guys are cagey, so I need to be at the top of my game. Sounds like a great trip, Howard! Thanks for the photo of Lewis' stone. You remember well that I am an admirer.
We are still plugging along through flu season at the clinic. Spring Break will be here soon, so the infection pattern may change a bit.

I just edited a piece that mentioned some local Nashville Coop hot-chicken spots. They offer the following guide:
Heat Levels: Minnesota Nice (No Heat) Mini-Coop (Mild) Coop (Medium) Growlin' (Hot) Cluckin' Hot (24 hour Pain)

Eager to hear how Jan & Bonny's gig went yestiddy. Sorry to hear of your sleeplessness night, leg cramps and bizarro dreams. Yikes! One of those is bad enough. The show went on without a hitch. We played well and the audience seemed to really enjoy themselves. They clapped and sang and a few even danced. I have started calling our senior performances shows rather than gigs. There is a very different feeling when we play senior residences. Beer gardens and bars were gigs. People came to drink and socialize and we were the background. I had no problem with that but now that I have played a full year of senior shows (40 to be exact), there is no comparison. I love having an attentive audience. Bonny and I have put together some entertaining dialogue and a few jokes to sprinkle in and the groups seem to love it. Of course, we match our outfits and present ourselves very nicely. We always get compliments on how "cute" we are. We throw in our Patriotic medley for the vets and end our show with "God Bless America." When I announced that we would be ending our show with that song, the audience yesterday cheered. At past shows we have even had wheelchair bound residents attempt to stand when we play that song. The staff would have to run over to stand with them or remind them to sit. That has brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. We really have found our niche. Scott and my good friend, Bill are our roadies. I even had shirts made up for them that read, "Jan Leman Band Roadie." They wore their shirts for the first time yesterday and some of the folks got a big kick out of that. Scott and Bill are also quite popular with some of the ladies who like to dance. Overall, our senior shows are an absolutely wonderful experience for the four of us as well as for our audience. Something interesting. I believe I have said this before on this forum that I still feel Lar's presence when I play. There are times I will turn my head and still expect to see him. I talked to my friend/roadie, Bill after the show yesterday. He knew Lar well. Bill said, "Jan, today's show was incredible." "You were so bubbly and happy and I don't think I have ever heard you play better." "I think Lar must have been looking down on you today." I said, "I think so too." It has now been 24 hours since the show and I am still enjoying the high. Or maybe it's from the five miles I did on the elliptical machine at the gym this morning. LOL!

Great post Jan. We also had a good gig last night and to top it off someone left a 100 dollar bill in the tip jar.
Hope tonight is better Bill-

It's been a few hours with my hearing aids and so far I don't like them. Really don't need the sound of chewing or just closing my jaw (normal pressure) drowning out noise that's generated outside of my head. There are adjustments I can make but there's a learning curve. It's also very distracting when play, my voice drowns out my guitar. Not so great so far.........

England still rainy. Sorry Howard.
I broke the atomiser nozzle off my Creed Green Irish Tweed cologne years ago. For some reason, I'd never thought of pinching the nozzle parts from a less lovely scent and doing a repair with those. Obvious fix really. Success! I'd almost forgotten how bloody amazing Creed GIT smells. There's nothing else quite like it. Very happy now.

Everything musical sounds balanced and natural. I don’t like the sounds of my guitar in normal speech mode but I understand conversation much better.

I'm looking through old files trying to assemble some photos of the cats --Crush and Moose-- because I long ago promised Dar I'd come up with a framed collage of them. I'm finding some, but just as when cleaning out an old closet, it's amazing the things you find hiding in the corners. Last week I found Ookpik Waltz. Today I stumbled upon this one. I didn't remember doing it and I doubt I could play the tune right now.
This came about when I got home. Really rough, but it was some chord melodies to some chord changes LJ had been playing around with. I have no idea how I played this.
