Born on this day in the year 1732. Happy birthday, Mr. President.
Yesterday, it rained a great deal, and likely more today. We met my young cousin at Kings Cross Station. He is studying history of science, at Cambridge, in preparation to attend law school next year to become a solicitor. From what I can make of it, at least the simple explanation, is that solicitors deal mostly with contract-related issues and also advise barristers, who present cases in court in wigs and black robes. We walked over to the Camden Market (a huge bazaar of goods ranging from pure crap to expensive leathers, jewelry, and vintage clothing). Took the Tube to Covent Garden, spent some more time in the National Portrait Gallery. My daughter is an admirer of Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron—she is remembered as the person who conceived computer programming, in the 19th Century. There was a lovely portrait of her, some of my favorite English authors, Edward Duke of Windsor as a lad, PM Churchill, and generations of the royal family, of course.
Spent some time in a guitar shop on Denmark Street. They seem mostly to sell electric guitars, although this one place had a nice selection of Lowden guitars, a 1955 Gibson SJ, a 1979 Martin D-35, a few Guild guitars of various vintage, a couple of National guitars, and a flock of Art and Lutherie guitars. We proceeded to meet a former coworker of mine who has been living here for a few years since his wife was transferred from New York to the London office of her company. We had a lovely, delicious dinner at a restaurant called The Ivy (allegedly the late Nora Ephron's favorite London restaurant), started as a cafe in 1917. It is outfitted with tons of dark tiger oak, semicircular banquettes, and a men's room in dark-stained oak and brass, with the greatest music piped in. The food was scrumptious—I began with an oak-smoked salmon with dark rye and crème fraiche and then a dish of small black truffle ravioli.
As we were paying up and getting ready to head out (Frazer advised me that we might see a British celebrity or two in this place) one of Britain's top comedians, David Mitchell, was seated at the next table with his party. I never would have known him.
Of course, if Eric Idle or Michael Palin had wandered in, that is a different story. My cousin, though, sneaked a surreptitious video, telling me that for his contemporaries—22-year-olds—Mitchell is the greatest.
Other point of interest:
Big Ben and a part of the Parliament building.
Waterloo Bridge, with a double-decker bus, the London Eye behind it, part of Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and Big Ben in the distance, and a chap in eyewear.
A sign painter doing what sign painters do. I believe this is a rapidly disappearing art.
On to the Churchill War Museum later and then the Tate to see an exhibition of John Singer Sargent. Have a lovely day.

Tampa yesterday, back to IN last night and on to NYC this morning. Sad we will not see Howard and family, but apparently they are otherwise occupied (see above) . Weird that it is warmer in IN than in Tampa, but oh well. It will be chillier in NYC.

Everybody's traveling. We head off to the airport in an hour to catch a plane to San Diego. It never rains in southern California, right?

Thanks for letting us crash at your place. I hope your son doesn’t mind. Oh, I am flying First Class. It was either that or pay to check a bag.

"The food was scrumptious." Those are words that never used to be uttered in England. The food there has improved greatly in my lifetime.
Good morning, everyone. This morning it'll be Zoom breakfast and groceries. This afternoon I'll pick up some new spectacles.
Safe travels to those who are traveling.

Raining like crazy here. Beats saying snowing like crazy. We were 3 weeks in Fl on Perdido Key and came home 2 weeks early due to my BIL dying. We had some chilly days there. Coming home, we stayed overnight just north of Nashville and got up to 19°. It was 48° here when we got home later that day. IN was Tropical compared to the South that day.

AT&T outage in our area. Cannot make or receive calls. Fortunately, we do not have our internet service with AT&T. Heading to the horse therapy ranch. Supposed to be 50 degrees. We should be able to take the kids riding outdoors.
Have a great day, everyone.

I'm surprised there has been no pilgrimage to wherever Lewis Hamilton lives.

Good morning. Sunny and chilly here. Audubon monthly meeting tonight is the only thing on my agenda for today. That and trying to find a setting for my new hearing aids that works. So far no joy but I've got a lot of settings and adjustments to make. Too many.........

Everybody's traveling. We head off to the airport in an hour to catch a plane to San Diego... Must be a Forum thing. I've got a little trip planned for this weekend, as well. Going to head down south to Fargo. Take in the sights and grab a sneak peak into Spring.

Getting 2 new tires installed on the Traverse this morning. Pretty exciting stuff. Especially after I see what they cost.

Everybody's traveling. We head off to the airport in an hour to catch a plane to San Diego. It never rains in southern California, right? Unless they are able to come in from the ocean side you have to pass VERY low over the mountains and make a damn quick drop on the other side to land in San Diego. It's quite exciting.

Good morning.
29F-49F sunny.
Another rather nice day for this time of year. I don't have to go out, no Doctors or errands and my house chores are all done done so I can spend the day in my shop.
26 Days Until Spring.

Pretty much a 50/50 deal. Don't sweat it! The Pilot explains what's going on so people don't freak out. Sorta like a roller coaster ride unless, like me, you are looking out the window when you pass over the mountain. Close enough to wave at passerby's down there.

Morning all. We are not traveling. We were planning on leaving Tuesday, but the weather is not cooperating. The forcast Tuesday is fir snow down to 500-1000 feet, well below pass levels. So we wait and see.
Meanwhile, coffee is good, Wordle is solved, the wife beat up on connections, and I’ve had a piece of avocado toast.

Another beautiful day here.
I just got home from Vinton, today was haircut day.
With temps at or near 60 today, I need to get in a hike or a bike ride this afternoon.

My friend that flew for Alaska Airlines used to talk about landing in San Diego.. He said bad weather at night made it sporting. Mostly shop work for me today. I have two almost ready to ship for finish. One repair waiting.
Weather is amazing for February. Hope we get some precipitation in March and April or the lakes will be mighty low and the farmers unhappy.
Slowly learning all the bells and whistles on the new car. It’s our first with all that stuff. One cool thing is a little button under the rear hatch where you can enter a PIN code to unlock it if you left your keys in it or if you intentionally locked them in if say you were going camping or kayaking.
