Mostly gopher tortoises, a protected species so if one digs a den in your yard you've got to leave it alone. No killing, relocating or filling in the hole. This guys got two burrows in his yard, Only one was out and about. This guy is in an empty lot, But the big bubba is this aldabra tortoise (from Madagascar) that some neighbors own. This one's relatively small, they get almost as large as the Galapagos versions. I think it's a female based on how it compares to the three tortoises they have at Zoo Tampa but I don't really know. We get an occational gopher tortoise in the yard but no new residents, yet........

I had a client in Cape Haze who donated part of their property to a sea turtle conservancy. Not really related to tortoises, but they do have shells.

That's very cool, Ken. We have the occasional box turtle around here, but very rarely see them. Years ago I saw a kid and a Dad who were all excited to have found one, and had it in an aquarium full of water. I explained that they are not water turtles, which they listened to. I also hinted at that they should let it go, which I doubt they listened to.
