This is called a "buttered toast" sunburst. I wonder if Todd three names Philips is getting partial royalties for "toasted" thing?

On first glance I thought the first picture showed a Larrivee, but the bridge should have tipped me off.

Nicely done, John Millring Bauman.

Both of those are beauties. And I agree with you about gold tuners. Just not my thing.

John, where did you find this? I'm part of an acoustic guitar group on facebook. As I look at that custom rosewood J45, I do have one other quibble with it. I love the custom binding, but why did they put abalone around the soundhole? It would have been better to be consistent. Oh, and the Santa Cruz H13 came from a search. I remember Paul Hostetter posted a photo series of a series of custom H13 built -- one of them with similar red, white, blue binding. I didn't find those photos, but saw several other beauties.

I like the abalone. It's simple yet dramatic. This is not a guitar to ignore. Though, as much as I like colorful guitar straps, I think the sun strap conflicts with the elegance of the guitar appointments. It fights too much for attention.

Now, that’s a nice burst. It’s warm. Disagree on the strap, Marshall, the gold suns blend well with the burst for me.

I have never been fond of that upside-down belly bridge. It has never looked right to me.

Maybe hold the photo upside down?

And you never see the strap laying on the top when the guitar is being played. Yet it is bold and draws attention away from the guitar, though.

Hate to agree with Marshal, but that guitar deserves a nice leather strap.

That would just be a temporary fix. Eventually, I'd figure it out.

I'm with Howard regarding the bridge. Otherwise, a very pretty guitar. Love the burst.

There's nothing logical or aesthetically pleasing about the belly-up bridge. . . . , except it's iconic and it's not a classic Gibson without it. The newer ones (like this one) have more meat in the belly so as not to break out the wood under saddle pressure.

I like it. My J-45 doesn’t have that and I always kind of wished it did.

My Eastman J45 clone has the belly up.
