Oh, an app for boosting my career? I’d better jump on that right away.
I find the best way to understand books is to read them. The best approach to podcasts I’ve found is to ignore them.

You’re (we’re) a dinosaur.
It’s an app that gives you Cliffnotes kind of reviews of non-fiction. 15 minute “reads” that give the essence of the book. Personally, my guy’s-book-club keeps picking historical non- fiction books. Interesting topics. EXTREMELY long and boring writing. “Just the facts, Ma’am. ALL the boring detailed facts.”
Much of the time I end up looking up the topic on Wikipedia when I get too bored.

Nope, but I met Cliff Hillegass once. He was the grandfather of one of my first wife's friends.

Sounds to me like it’s time to quit your guys book club, and do something that interests you.

I'm of the opinion that if you enjoy hanging out with the guys, and they don't mind if you haven't read the book, keep doing what you're doing. The Blinkist thing might not be a bad idea, either. I'm in two book clubs - well, a member of one an an auxilliary member of another (my wife's the main member). Some folks read the book, some don't, but we always have a great time when we get together. We do try to discuss the books, but we're not always successful.

I get my deep reading from the Stephanie Plum. 30 books in all and I’m about to start my second read through.

I seem to remember something about Wynken, Blynken, and Nod from my childhood.
