Good morning and happy Palm Sunday to those who recognize the day. It's supposed to cool off a bit here with something like 50-65 degrees. I plan to attend the early church service. It should be a lot less crowded than the later one.
Thoughts and prayers to Todd and LJ. Have a good day.

We got at 5AM to give Rocky his drops and pills. His eyes are look really good and heβs seems to be seeing quite well. We kind of laugh because itβs funny to watch the expression he has in realizing that he can see again. Tomorrow the carpet installers arrive, so today we clear out all the stuff in 4 bedrooms except for the heavy stuff which we paid them to move. I had to collect up all the guitars and move them to the garage. The official count is 15. I need to sell some of this stuff.

Good morning. It's Sunday morning, so this means that Her Grace gets a Dutch Baby for breakfast. We're allowed to call it a DutchBaby today because Max Verstappen didn't win last night's F1 race from Australia. If he wins next race, we go back to calling it a German Pancake.
Another photo from London last month:

Have a lovely Sunday, whether you are observing the Palm Sunday holiday or just kicking back.

Up, coffeed and Wordle. Little storm coming into LA today, a few sprinkles might make it through the pass to the desert, maybe. High is supposed to top out around 67Β°. Tomorrow we are back to 79-80.

Good morning.
26F-34F cloudy/snow.
Slept about 18 hours of the last 24 hours and feeling better and we will go to breakfast and then see if we want to go shopping. It will start snowing here shortly and won't stop until Tuesday. It will be mixed with periods of rain, not good. We're well stocked as always in Winter but a surprise storm is still a threat so we will stay well stocked in case we get snowed in for a while. Rain on top of snow can turn the roads into a skating rink, best to stay home if you can. Fortunately the temps won't be cold enough for a ice storm, the most dangerous of conditions.

Morning.
A two song day for the choir. Both about Palms. Warming up the voice with coffee and a bagel. Time tested.

Pulling for the storm to stay south of us and dump all the snow on Fargo. Pull, pull, pull.

Another reason I am happy to be living most of my life in this crazy town. We don't own a car, can walk to the shops, and we have hardly had any snow for years except for one blast each winter. (Of course, as an indication of developing weather trends, this may not be so good.)

During and after a Ice Storm you can't go anywhere and that includes Emergency Services. The streets are covered in thick ice. I've had my house covered so thickly in ice that the doors won't open. Ice Storms are rare and very dangerous, give me a good old Blizzard any day.

Good morning. Got up early for some solo birding at Weeki Wachi Prairie Lake, about a block from my house. The lake is mostly dried out due to the drought we've been having but there are ponds scattered about that you can walk out to. I came across these guys, Long billed dowitchers A tricolored heron with a cattle egret in the background A great blue heron A pair of sandhill cranes and a great egret Merlin says these are American black ducks but I think they may be mottled ducks. I also saw some white ibis, glossy ibis, blue winged teal, boat tailed grackles and an American white pelican. Good stuff. Have a great day.

Good morning, there's a cold wind blowing, snow, ice, rain are coming. I've been out in it this morning, having breakfast at the Urbana fireman's breakfast. I should have just dropped off some money and left, it was pretty bad.
After breakfast I drove around for a while to get the truck fully warmed up, I hadn't driven it in a month. About a mile south of my house is the Cedar River and there are some pretty big hils near it. This morning there were kids, going down one of the snow covered hills in kayaks. Them seemed to be having fun.

Hey kenlarsson, have I mentioned yet how much I appreciate your newfound (I think) love of taking pictures of birds, and your new camera? I love seeing these shots, and I also love that you're able to identify the birds in your pictures. I think I've been confusing the names of herons and egrets for most of my life. But anyway, thanks for posting these, and please continue. Lots of love and prayers and hope being sent to a little corner of Indiana and a bright spot in the middle of Iowa. I'm hoping better days are ahead for LJ and Todd, and I hope they come soon. I'm glad Todd is slowly but surely gaining strength and stamina, and I'm glad LJ is having less pain than before - especially since from what I understand it was constant. My aunt Patricia died last night. She is the first of my mother's siblings to pass, and she was also the youngest. She and I disagreed on most things politically, and a lot of things theologically (acknowledging she put a lot more thought and research into her beliefs), but one thing we did not disagree on is the importance of our loved ones, and loving each other not only in spite of but because of our differences. Well, that's my take on it. She would have a better take, and I'm going to miss that she will no longer be around to discuss with me. She had three wonderful children, Matthew, Faith and Leslie, and three wonderful grandchildren. My mother had a heart valve replacement last Tuesday. It went very well, though there is some debate as to whether a pacemaker is needed. The debate started when her heart rate dropped into the 30's, and then ended up in the 120's, with various stops in between. But a readmittance to the hospital, followed by monitoring, seemed to indicate she might be fine without one. They decided to send her home on Friday with a monitor, but then discovered that there were no monitors available until Monday. But the doctors decided that her Apple Watch would be an acceptable emergency substitute for a monitor, at least until tomorrow. Those attending services today, please wave a palm and sing Hosana for me. I'm working, or at least I will be working as soon as I finish typing this. I am especially grateful for this forum today, and everyone who participates.

John, condolences on the passing of your aunt. Your mother certainly doesn't need this added stress. I hope all goes well with getting the heart monitor and the doctors can figure out what to do for her. I will be singing some hosannas today. My choir is doing "Lift High the Palms." www.jwpepper.com/Lift-High-the-Palms%21/10669036.item#.YtBZ8HbMK3AI've been drafted to sing the descant as the woman who was doing it has a fractured lower vertebra and can't draw a deep breath. Got the makings for pot roast. Sounds like a good choice for tonight with cool and wet weather. We got almost a half inch of rain in the wee hours and more is in the forecast. Expected high is 60.

Sorry to hear about your aunt John. Just wanted to clarify, I liked your post because you liked my picture, not the news about your aunt.....

John, My condolences for your aunt Patricia's passing. I am glad you shared the important stuff.
A drizzly day here in the NW corner of Oregon. I think soup is on the menu for lunch. I started to make a budget for the planned retirement but lost my way. Playing guitar is much more appealing.

We sang "Lift High the Palms, as well (they didn't let me anywhere near the descant). We also sang one about a tree.

Even if I could post video here, you'd barely see it, All I had was my phone. It caught my eye over the open fields south of Pierceton.
If you see a big bird in the skies over Indiana, it's most likely going to be a turkey vulture. It could also be a crane, a heron, a hawk, harrier, or osprey...or an eagle.
A few seconds of watching it's flight I realized I was witnessing yet another eagle on my route. But I didn't see the confirming white head and tail feathers...
...until movement in the sky to the left of the big bird caught my eye. THIS bird had the white markings. ....oh... and so did one of the other two that were circling overhead. Two adults and two juveniles.
It's the first time I've seen multiple eagles in a single sighting.
