Good morning. Had a nice day birding yesterday at Chinsegut Nature Preserve. ' Today I'm making chocolate chip cookies to take tomorrow to our daughter's neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Should be a great day with Kelly, RJ and the grandkids. Have a great day.

Looks like you had a great day, Ken.
Good morning, everyone. Today we'll be under a wind advisory, followed tonight and tomorrow by rain. I'll get rid of some more weeds. They don't seem to realize that they're not wanted,
Peace to all.

Good morning.
32F-44F partly cloudy.
Probably no walk-in people for Saturday shop so I'll putter around down there for a while and then do some kitchen chores. I'll see if I can get her out of the house this afternoon.
But first, some breakfast burritos.

I am up, fully washed, combed, fed, coffeed, and ready to pick up a guitar and see if my fingers work. I am told tomorrow is Easter. I kind of lost track. Stay cool.

Satyrday.
I'm feeling sort of at sea this morning. Monday will be my last day working. Then... a pensioner I will be. Everyone keeps asking me if I am excited. Right now it feels like being in a different dimension; my synapses aren't quite making sense of it yet, kind of a mild numbness. This will take some getting used to, I think.
In the meantime, I am going to try and take care of the me who is in there but has been repressed by working for a group that is managing a company as though they are still living in the early days of the Industrial Age. I was so busy trying to do the best work I could that I didn't realize the magnitude of the negative effect the last 17 years have had on my spirit. It's clear there will be some necessary healing in the near future.
On that note, enjoy your day!

We have our daughter visiting for the week. She left the kids home with her husband. So her vacation if pretty much a break from her kids. Works for us. Glad to see her.
Rocky went in for blood work yesterday since it appeared he was not handling the steroids. Long story short, his liver function was WAY off and he is now on a fast taper of the steroids. His liver apparently just can't handle them. So now we have to consult with an internal medicine vet to monitor his liver to make sure it recovers. It is basically steroid induced liver cirrhosis but once the steroids stop, it should recover. A case of the cure being worse than the disease. The good news is that his eyes are looking good and he is seeing quite well.

Okay, I was kidding. I think I get it. It took me about six months after I retired to sort out who I was when I was no longer the guy who went into the office every day. I suggest not making any irreversible decisions for a while.

Four errands this morning, all accomplished in short order -- key fob battery replaced, car washed, some tire shopping done, all wrapped up with reprovisioning at Trader Joe's, where I was pleased to see the Cod Provencale frozen dinner back in stock, a fine dish.
Easter Sunday will be spent here in the Twin Cities -- our Eau Claire gathering will be a week late so the entire tribe can be on hand. So I will no doubt dine at a Chinese restaurant tomorrow! Tea House in Minneapolis beckons ...

Howard, as you said, you did what you had to do to gather eggs for the family. That's nothing but admirable. Now just try to forget all about the unpleasantness of those years and enjoy both the new free you and your wonderful family.
Hope to again cross your path.

It took a few months to not feel like I was supposed to be somewhere or be following a schedule, but it passed. I actually liked my job a lot, but I never missed it and I realized, after a point, that I would no longer fit in. And liking my job does not mean everything was always fair, wonderful, and strife free. It means I liked working with the kids and being around them. Everything else I dealt with as I needed. I retired and didn’t look back. Barb & I started a new life together.
I retired with a guy who felt he had been unfairly treated. He still moans and groans about it all these years later. People see him coming and they head the other way. All these years he could have been feeling happy at being free to do whatever he wanted, and he was miserable and angry all that time. He still is. I have told him to spit it out, leave it behind, forget it, and move on. It is of zero importance now. The people he feels mistreated him are long gone, but he has not moved past their control of him.
There is no schedule and no time line. Learn to relax, enjoy the things you love doing, put the past to bed, and enjoy the sunshine. Six months after you retire you won’t be able to remember the names of goofballs from work. That’s a good thing.

Thank you, LJ, Rob, and everyone who responded. I appreciate the advice and support. I tend to lead with my emotions, and this helps.

The guy across the street, who retired a few years before I did, gave me some advice that I may or may not have followed.
Don't make any big changes - like buy a Rolls Royce or move to Brazil - for a year.
Only do one thing at a time. Multi-tasking is for people who work.

So, Ole. Ole as walking down by da river one day, and he sees Sven over on the other side. So Ole says, he says, "Hey, Sven! How do I get to the other side?"
Sven looks up and looks around, and he yells back to Ole, he says, "Ole! You are on the other side!"

So, are you guys 'n' gals OK with this tread pattern? It is, of course, that of a BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S Plus.

Funny. I heard that many years ago as a blonde joke. Sven & Ole are both blond. Sven and Ole are both blonde Norwegians except when you're talking to epaul, in which case dey're Swedish - unless majorminor is around, in which case dey switch back to Norwegian really fast.
