On the way out to the gulf there are tidal marshes and ponds. A pair of cranes have nested for a number of years on an island in a pond that's about 15 yards or so from the shore by the road. I've been going out there periodically to check on this years hatching but so far no colts, (crane babies are called colts, not chicks). Here's some pictures I took while checking in on them, The happy couple. Some red-breasted merganser's Little blue heron Belted kingfisher Snowy egret. At this point I'm checking in every day so I'll post pictures when the colt or colts arrive......
