To each his own. There’s no flexibility in 1.0s. Exactly. Preference for a flexible pick could mean you’re gripping your pick too tightly. No, I don't think so. I certainly don't grip tightly. Just a preference for some flex. Different materials (celluloid, nylon, acrylic, Duralin, Casin, Blue Chip, Charmed Life) all have different inherent stiffness. Same gauge in one will feel very different in another. I could never tolerate real thin picks. Nor thick ones. I'm sure my preference comes from many decades of playing with celluloid Fender mediums. I'd still use them, except they wear and chip easily. After a few songs of my playing, the edge becomes serrated. It's probably from the angle of attack I unconsciously use. But it's too late to try to change.

For yucks I ordered a pack of regualr shaped picks from D'Addario. They came today. I ordered .7mm and .85mm. My goodness, the .7mm feel like I've been playing them all my life. Very lively sound. Not as pointed as the black ice ones. But they feel natural in my hand. This could be a new thing. You know, this is why I have a can of 900,000 picks. Only 900,000? Thought you had a million of ‘em

I'm finding a 0.71mm seems to be a pretty good thickness for me, too. I kind of like the Fender Mojo Grip picks. I really haven't used picks much at all for the 30+ years I've been playing, even though I have a nice collection of weird picks. The Mojo picks have a rubber pick holder attached. Feels good in the hand. If the pick wears out you can swap it out for a similarly-shaped pick. www.fender.com/en-US/accessories/picks/mojo-grip-dura-tone-delrin-picks---3-pack/1985351403.html

Hey Marshall, what was the thickness of those GraphTech picks you liked? Maybe 0.68mm?

Hhhhhm.. I have tried Graphtec but didn't really like them. I like the .68mm better than the .88mm. They sound quite nice and feel good too. But the edges get chewed up quickly when playing. The are a slightly brighter sound than the Duralin. Its just that the edges don't hold up to wear very well.
You can have mine if you want to try them.

The 1.0’s slow for clear bass runs and single notes for bits of the melody and occasional harmony. Breaks up the potential strumming monotony a bit.

Maybe a couple times in the last 50 years. And I do like to get comfortable with the flex and feel of a pick. I don't think I'd want to try wearing those boots. Just another thing to mess around with.

I don't have problems with slippery picks either, it's just comfortable.

No, tone is king. Comfort is overrated.

I love it when I drop my flat pick into the guitar while I’m playing.
