I don't know how many of my fellow Soundhooligans have Instagram accounts, but I just started one yesterday that features my late father's work for Newsweek magazine, covering the years 1957 through 1988. The time has arrived for this to happen. I hope to be adding to it every few days over the coming weeks and months, as time allows. As many of you know, his subjects were people in the news, national and world events, icons and celebrities. There will be some gems uploaded.
The account name is: @bernardgotfrydphotography
It's public so you can cruise right in. Thanks for looking.

Starting out with Nina Simone and the Beatles is pretty tough to beat, Howard. Great shots.

Thanks, Rick. My father managed to get the choicest assignments, and he was a master of available light and something of an intuitive psychologist. He was charming, had a European accent, and an incredible back story. And he always recognized what Henri Cartier-Bresson called "the decisive moment."

Sounds like the art of portrait photography encapsulated, right there. It’s interesting and sad all at the same time, how art has morphed with technology. Portrait painters were replaced by photographers. Now professional photographers are being replaced because of cell phone cameras, and the easy ability to crowd source ‘good enough’ pictures.

I've never been on instagram and thought it was about cute cats or grandkids in the pool without water wings for the first time. What you're doing is pretty cool, Howard. The internet has been crawling the past few days, but I'll look when I can.

I wish I knew a good way to suggest to the 3 or so people that follow me that they should follow the page, but I am not Instagram-literate.
Howard, do you know how to share to a wider audience without having to invite everyone individually?

Try sending a post from the account to them with the little arrow thingy under the photo. If it's only three people, you can click on the arrow once and then select their names/accounts, send a message (the field at the bottom you'll see) explaining why, in brief. Or boxers. Then hit Send.
