It should be a short workday. I think I will spend some time searching for my dream home, or at least a comfortable home further from suburbia.
Does that mean closer to or farther from the city?

Good morning survivors Music Thirty days in Hospital/ Rehabs Stay well Are you ok, Bob? It wasn't clear to me from your post if you were referring to Todd's hospital stay or if you had some new health problems of your own.

David, move to Newberg! We can ride bikes together and there is even a dog park.
Rained like heck here last night. I think over 4-5 inches, with big winds, thunder and lightning. The National weather service warned of waterspouts, flash flooding, the full meal deal. So loud it kept us up until after 1:00 am. More heavy rain is forcast for today, but as of the moment, it’s just overcast and still. We will stick close to the compound until we know which way the wind blows.

Tiger Woods just set another record -- most consecutive instances of making the cut at the Masters, an amazing 24 in a row.

I hope you're OK, Bob. A 30 day hospital stay is no fun, is it. I hope your stay will be worth it for the future.

We are fine. We are on a headland two hundred feet above sea level, so no real issues here, but roads in and out are sketchy. We were planning to hit up a bakery in Hanapepe tomorrow but there are road closures so that’s a no go. The bridge is closed to Hanalei so can’t head there either. Good excuse to watch the Masters I guess.

Doing a little more family history research, I discovered an island off of Manhattan was owned by my 8th great-grandfather (and relations) from 1687 to 1762. It's now playing fields and parks, I believe. It's the "Wards" part of Randalls and Wards Island. The islands have a long an interesting history. I'd like to visit sometime. Holy smokes, John. Your ancestors owned the island? I have been there for baseball games. A couple with whom we are friends here in the building lost a son many years ago, who was a star baseball player in university, and before the pandemic they would host an annual memorial baseball game. FIrst it was indigenous, then the Dutch took over, and then the English took over. For the period of time my family owned it, it was called Parcell's Island; the Parcells were also Pursels; the first one born in the US was also known as John Borcher or Butcher.

There's no reason anyone would remember but Doug Heard and I were distantly related. The ancestors we had in common lived in Virginia in the 1600s. They were called Durdin, Darden and some other variant. One great-grandmother of mine was named Crownover, Conover or Conor. I think there were a couple of reasons why names had variations of this sort. An official would ask your name and write the answer down phonetically, without asking about spelling. Also, a fair number of people were illiterate and couldn't spell their names. I'm pretty sure that's why one of my wife's ancestors is listed in the census as Wammuc, which is how the surname Womack was originally pronounced (WAH-muck).

"My brother-in-law's best friend's last name is pronounced and spelled that way (Womack)."
It's a fairly common southern surname going back to one Abraham Womack. These days they hear it pronounced WOE-MACK so often that quite a few give in and pronounce it that way themselves.

I have a lot of ancestors from the 17th century. No idea who they were or where they lived, but I'm sure were some because, well, here I am.

Jusrpt saw the rain totals for the last 24 hours from the national weather service. The East side of the island (Kapaa, Lihue) got around 12 inches. Looks like we got six inches. It’s dry now. Another front comes in Sunday.
