Out of the blue, Doc Froon contacted me. While sorting through some old CDs, he found "A Tin Cup Full of Rain" by Steve Cloutier. And it had my email address on it. Apparently, I sent him the CD as my contribution in some sort of CD swap initiated by the old guitar forum many of us were part of. The CD is in pristine condition and he offered to mail it to me.
I don't know if I could find my CD player and there must be a better home for it, and in that regard I thought of Russell, or perhaps someone else on this forum. If interested, post here or PM me. Russell, due to his personal connection, gets first dibs. After that, if there is an after that, or a before that, for that matter, the gifting will be based on a coin flip, or the most interestingly written request, I don't know. It could even go through another mail around, or stay with Doc.

Is Froon still at Batdorf and Bronson? If so I could head up there this summer maybe do lunch or something. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from my house. Would love to see him again.

He retired a few years ago. He resides in Shelton, WA. Batdorf and Bronson is in Olympia. The Greek Gods resided in Olympus.

I have a copy of Tin Cup--in fact, I think I have all of Steve's recordings, plus two of his guitars.
I notice that while his YouTube channel is still up, his websites (cloutier.org and frogworks.org) seem to have vanished.

Yeah, I’ve been to his house in Shelton. It was a long time ago. He hosted a guitar gathering there, back in the old AG days. Chak Aw was there, Pauline, a bunch of people.

It had to be about 20 years ago. Doc Froon's aging dad lived in the Cleveland area. Doc and I had been corresponding quite a bit at the time and figured out that he was going to be traveling home (to his dad's) the very week of late June, early July that I would be doing an art fair in nearby Peninsula, OH. He came to the fair and Dar watched the booth while he and I took guitars out to the parking lot, found a covered picnic area and shared tunes. I remember him commenting on the pleasure of playing in the sun and watching the shadows of fingerpicking fingers dance on the guitar top.

In August of 2006, when were expecting our daughter in late February 2007, we spent a week on the Oregon coast. At the end of the week, Doc and Marcia drove down and spent the weekend at the refurbished 1950s motel where we were staying, The See-Vue (now converted into ocean-side condos). We had a great time hiking in Cape Perpetua, dining together, and one afternoon the wives drove south to Florence and the dunes, and Doc and I sequestered ourselves in a little cabin out on the grounds with our guitars. We sat for a few hours and played many of the songs we knew together. It was a pleasant way to top off our week there. We had such a good time visiting with them.

I still have, like many of us do, the Batdorf and Bronson coffee mug. I love the shape of that thing. I'm glad he's still around and doing things.

Doc here. I'm in I think, thanks to Paul and Dub and Howard and The Goddesses and Luck and The Fates...
I thought I would add a snapshot. Alas, FILE TOO BIG. I know I have put on a pound or so, but to have my portrait rejected by a device...wow.
