Who is Pharrell Williams? He's the guy performing out of his usual element with Brad Paisley, Steve Lukather, Peter Frampton and Don Was in front of the two remaining Beatles and the family of the songwriter. Not a showcase for Pharrell, but he does rock an unusually large hat. Which would probably just about fit my noggin.

I'm a bit worried that the YouTube algorithm is going to misunderstand me now. I go through my viewing history and remove anything that I don’t want influencing the algorithm.

In truth, I subscribe to several YT guitar channels a couple of science, philosophy, psychology ones and ...erm... 73 sailing and boat building/repair channels and there are not many algorithmic offerings that deviate far from that sort of thing.

Ooooh, boat building. Pant, drool. I have a small but decent library on boat building and naval architecture. Two or more lifetimes ago (or so it seems) I wanted to build Maine Guide canoes but there was no literature on the subject. So I began studying hull design and wooden boat building since there was nothing else available. Eventually I came up with a design and production ideas that would allow one person to build, on average, one such canoe per week. I figured the market for high-end canoes of this type would be stable since they are very expensive and the few people who’d want one will always have more money than they need. But before I could start to implement any of my ideas, Jerry Stelmok published his book, Building the Maine Guide Canoe, explaining everything. It turned out that the Old Town Canoe Co. was still building these on special order. They laid out the hull in their basement using hundred-year-old wooden forms. One man laid up the entire hull in a single day. They’d never come up with any faster, better way to do it. I realized that all my design and planning was for nought. But I still have all the boat books and still dream of half models and lofting.

I do like a traditional wooden canoe. Canoes are a bit smaller than what I've mostly watched on YT. I've watched a few small sailboats and tenders being built. Generally bigger stuff though. A couple of amateurs on the 'Salt and Tar' channel built from scratch a wooden 38 foot gaff rigged ketch, it took seven years. Lovely thing. I have seen quite a bit about Port Townsend and environs wooden boat building. There are quite a few skilled people there. The rebuild of the gaff cutter 'Tally Ho' has been impressive. sampsonboat.co.uk/Sadly I am utterly inept at woodwork. I can go on and on about this stuff but luckily for Maggie Rogers fans and others here, I won't.

Likewise. Tough quiz. Quite fun though. I've decided to not burden my faltering memory banks with the new information.

I'm more of a rocker than the most of ya. I’ll modify that and say I’m more of a POP guy than most of you. I’ll also say I’m encouraged by some of what I hear (when I come across it ) by some younger new artists. Subject matter may not be meaty, but popular music has rarely been about deep subject matter.

A friend from Port Townsend/Hawaii/New Zealand/Marshall Islands helped his dad build wooden boats in Port Townsend until Aubie started wandering far and wide. Super interesting man. Are you familiar with the 85 year-old staysail racing schooner Nina that was lost in the Tasman Sea? My dear friends Ricky and Robin spent most of their considerable wealth overflying vast expanses of ocean looking for the Danielle, their only child. They're amazing people who have been helpful to me in my losses. They invested their lives into Danielle. My heart aches for them every time I think of it. An occasional Search for the Nina update comes across my Facebook feed. Sigh

According to a story I just read, Maggie was at the ticket counter actually selling tickets @ 10;00 am. Each person was allowed only 2 tickets.
