If you’re in Boise do not miss it. I would drive there from Nampa when visiting my son.

Next time I’m in Boise, I’ll definitely check it out.
Actually, I’ve never been to Boise and very much doubt I’ll ever be there. Still…

Check out the menu. New York prices. I can pay $16 for a tall stack of pancakes without leaving my hometown.
I also need to add that I prefer my hometown's demographics to Boise's.
Race and Hispanic Origin, Boise
White alone, percent 85.0% Black or African American alone, percent(a) 1.5% American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 0.6% Asian alone, percent(a) 3.4% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent(a) 0.3% Two or More Races, percent 6.8% Hispanic or Latino, percent(b) 9.1% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent 81.2%

When I'd only ever read of Boise, Idaho. My mental voice pronounced it in a French(ish) way - Bwaahz. Should I also mentally de-Frenchify Dubois from Doo-bwah to Doo-boys?

I can also recommend Moon Rock Pizza. www.noonrockpizza.com/I shall edit my post above to include the Cowboy Cafe website.

Interesting comment, Howard. You don’t like white guys? I do wonder sometimes about this country and the “melting pot.” The urban/rural divide is a big contrast across this land. I’m not taking “sides,” just noting the wildly different lives our citizens lead across the land.

If you’re in Boise do not miss it. I would drive there from Nampa when visiting my son. If you make it to downtown and the line at Goldy's is discouraging, try The Eggman and Earl in southeast Boise. It's our favorite breakfast place in town. The menu is a little weirder and funkier than Goldy's.. definitely not high-end generic. The presentations are always lovely, lots of food, and the soup of the day is always a mimosa.

"White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent"?
Is that somehow different than, "White alone percent"?

And if you're wondering, the best cheese enchiladas I've ever had were at the Wagon Wheel Saloon in Patagonia, Arizona. Novelist Jim Harrison used to hang out there.

If in Minneapolis, get thee to Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown for a stack of blueberry pancakes, w/ or w/o walnuts, and topped with local maple syrup. Podium was a couple doors down -- wonder how many of these Marty has consumed.

Podium was a couple doors down -- wonder how many of these Marty has consumed. Many times and they knew how to make crispy hashbrowns they way I like them. I've also sat next to Garrison Keillor several times. You have to sit next to someone because there are only 13 seats all in a row.

If you're ever in Westcliffe, Colorado hit up the bowling alley for breakfast. Often it's the only place open.

Marshall, I grew up and live in a city that is noticeably, in-your-face diverse. The demographics of this town are familiar to me, and I am comfortable with people of different ethnicity and background. I do not dislike white guys. I dislike everyone equally. It's just a matter of what one becomes accustomed to in everyday life.
The neighborhood in Brooklyn in which we live is a rich mix of ethnicities and cultures. People seem to get along well here, no matter their differences. Perhaps we live in an unusual bubble. I am interested in those cultures, what I can learn from them, and what they can learn from mine. My son and daughter both attended public schools with kids who are Black, Asian, Latino, White, Christian, Muslim, Jewish. So did I. My kids are still friends with quite a few of those kids, and we have made some good friends among the parents, too.
I suppose what this all means, Marshall, is that I wouldn't want to live in Boise because it represents too much of a homogeneous population. Bottom line: I like diversity.

Howard, I don't think you'd like rural Utah. But I do.
"As of the 2010 census, 797 people, 334 households, and 217 families lived in [Escalante, Utah]. The population density was 271 people per square mile (105/km2). There were 420 housing units at an average density of 143 per square mile (55/km2). The racial makeup was 95.4% White, 2.1% American Indian and Alaska Native, 0.5% Asian, 0.1% Black, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, 1.5% from other races, 0.3% from mixed racial ancestry and 3.5% Hispanic or Latino of any race."

"White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent"? Is that somehow different than, "White alone percent"? The larger number includes whites who identify as Hispanic/Latino. The smaller number does not. I've never asked my born in Mexico brother-in-law how he identifies but if you met him on the street he would not strike you as Mexican.
