Good morning. Up early for a mountain bike ride at the Chassahowitzka WMA. There are miles of dirt roads and trails to explore there, more than a days' worth of riding so today I'll do the northern half and I'll go there at another time to do the southern half. Claire's heading out to a baby shower for one of Kelly's friends so it's a busy day here in Florida. Have a great day folks.

Ken, it looks like you've found a terrific way to start your days.
Good morning, everyone. We'll have high 50s to high 70s with sunshine. Younger daughter is visiting. This afternoon all three of our kids and our son-in-law will gather at our house for games and then a pizza dinner.
Peace.

Good morning. 49F-60F sunny, maybe . Saturday shop and then we'll find something to do for this afternoon. Simon seems to be back to his old self. He's eating well and drinking again, even waking me up to let him out. I even got his usual two syllable "Thank You" meow when I let him back in early this morning.

Yesterday’s gig went well for the first two sets. Then it started to rain. We were in this huge covered area, tucked off to the side. Mostly to get away from the 20 mph winds. It turns out the “only” spot under that entire covered area where the roof leaked was directly over me. Within minutes it was clear we had to stop and move our gear. The outlet strip got wet, but that was after we pulled the plug. So we never did play the 3rd set.

If you would have played the third set, no one would have been around to hear it. At least you got most of it in!
None of the storms that hit so hardin places west of us, like eastern Nebraska, made it here last night, and we haven't gotten any rain in what was supposed to be a rainy weekend so far. Tonight and tomorrow will be different stories, though, with possibly severe weather moving in.
I'm off to breakfast with a friend, then the coffee shop where I'll make my grocery list, then off to buy said groceries. Not a cloud in the sky right now.

Good morning, folks. Just got back from the green market down the street, for dinner ingredients. Guests coming this evening.
This gives you an idea of our local green market. The earlier you get there, you can beat the crowds.
Ken, I saw Robin Red Breast, Pigeons, and two Mourning Doves. No Red-Tailed or Cooper's Hawk sightings this morning. We have a few of those that roost in Prospect Park. The food supply for them is pretty ample, between squirrels, rats, mice, and small dogs.
@paulk, I am glad you weren't electrocuted, and I hope they paid you for all three sets regardless of the weather.
Chores and errands beckon. Have a good Saturday everyone.

It should hit 80° today. Right now it looks like rain and I am freezing. Enjoy the day.

Yay, the wind stopped. For now. And you can see the mountains. Peak wind gusts yesterday in Whitewater (just N of Palm Spring) were 75 mph.
Off to the street fair in a bit, or as Howard would call it, the green market. I want to pick up around three lbs of red flame raisins. A local variety and they kick store bought raisins to the curb. For use in baking and oatmeal, can’t be beat. We freeze them and three lbs will last until next winter when we return. (Lord willing and the river don’t rise)
Cleaning/repairing some more stuff in the condo today with an eye towards bailing out of here on Tuesday. We were going to leave Monday, after they picked up our trash, but figured out we’d be on the freeway with around 60,000 other people leaving because of Stagecoach concert. So Tuesday.

We are getting ready for our first real adventure since Pat’s stroke and my tinnitus last fall. A road trip to High Point NC for a grandson’s college graduation next week. I think it will be good for us. We are adapting, still a ways to go but optimistic.
I had my mechanic run the new Subaru up on the lift yesterday to be sure the front suspension looked OK after hitting the barstool on the interstate last week. It looked good and he had some replacement plastic snap rivets to further stabilize my repair job on the sprung front quarter panel.
Much needed rain all weekend. Got my dock in and the lake is actually not down as much as I expected.

Son and grandson coming by for a visit, about the same time that the furnace repair guy is to show up. My 2-year-old furnace is a big disappointment, due to a poor installation and the company that installed it is not around anymore.
Spent about an hour playing music this a.m. It is a wonderful way to start the day.

Back from the Chassahowitzka WMA. Very long, very good ride. I didn't get to nearly all of the parts of the WMA but that's just that much more to explore. Glorious weather right now, summer looms but for the moment I'm not going to think about it........ I'm exhausted but well satisfied.

I'm exhausted. Playing in a circus band, three shows a day, is a long day. Good crowds. The 11:00 and 3:00 show each had close to 5,000. The evening show tapered off some but was still close to 3,000. Circuses have gone pretty high-tech with sound and lighting. Some of acts were real pretty with house lights down and the performers lit up like LED Christmas trees flashing in the night. Trees on trapeze, wires, and summersaulting bikes.
Two more shows tomorrow.
