Good morning. A new week has begun. Let's not screw it up.
This morning, younger daughter will fly back to the Bay Area. We had a delightful weekend. Today I have a committee meeting to attend and some minor to-dos.
Enjoy your day.

With the neighbor’s help to get down the stairs to the car, and his help putting the wheelchair in the back of the car, Barb & I were able to get to a birthday brunch for a friend yesterday. Friends waiting at the restaurant unloaded the wheelchair and wheeled me into the accessible, though barely, restaurant for the celebration. Then, when it was over, all the steps were reversed to get me back home. Other than the Dr office, that was my first venture out in the real world since March 14th! One thing I learned is that facilities that call themselves accessible sometimes play fast and loose with the term. People inside had to move to let me be wheeled in but they did so without complaint. It was a great feeling and a close to normal day, but I was tired when we got home. That was ok. People I didn’t know were wishing me well as we were leaving.

LJ, it's good to read that you're on the road back to some semblance of normalcy. And once you are walking on that bionic ankle, perhaps enhanced normalcy?
Well, the mercury is supposed to reach 84° here today, with some showers expected in the late afternoon. I am so unaccustomed to going outside without a jacket. I have some USPS and bank business to attend to later, and a walk through the neighborhood promises to be pleasant on a warm sunny weekday. Her Grace is on a New-York-bound jet from Paris right now, and I plan to walk over to her school and meet her when the group returns. I think all the kids had a blast in France.
The virtuosity and informality of these recordings are great. It has been a while.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day. Stay safe and mind the weather, Midwesterners.

LJ, I'm happy you got out of the house for a while. I know that had to feel good!
Today is the first day of final exams at the university. Campus will start to clear out soon.
I have to renew my CPR certification this afternoon, so I only have patients in the morning. Not a bad way to start the week.

Good morning.
42F-52F partly cloudy.
I'd like to get right down to the shop but I have to a grocery run first. Just need a few things to fill our food list for the week. Then down to the shop to put frets in a Stella.

The sun is up and the wind is down, mid 90s is the forcast high. We will pack up today, and prep the condo for summer heat using five gallon buckets filled with water as a poor man’s humidifier. Expect to be on the road by 10:00 am tomorrow.

I'm off to work (half time) for the first time in two months. It will end with a zoom meeting. I guess I'll be right back into it.

Looks like we'll have a nice couple days here. I need to get out and cut up some small trees and branches in my "back 40" that have been laying in piles since last fall. I shall call this task "Fun with chainsaws".

Today Mr. H and I will get back to restringing my Ubass. We were somewhat successful yesterday but we were tired and it was dinner time, so we set it aside. The videos and written instructions tell you to stretch out the strings, but no way to explain just how much. We have too many winds and will have to redo 2 of the strings. It's a pain in the patootie. I have never taken any instrument to a shop for restringing alone, but next time I may pay somebody to do this.
Looking at a week with no medical appointments and no social activities. A good few days to get some minor tasks done around the house and make runs to Costco and the bank. Yesterday on the way home from church we bought some doorstops. Been using a box of laundry soap in the laundry room since we had drywall work done. We did previously buy a 3" doorstop for that. It turns out that those are not really 3 inches.

If retirement means being under house arrest because of driving restrictions, then yes.

If retirement means being under house arrest because of driving restrictions, then yes. Well not that bad. When I got out of the hospital I had to do the same but I had DaWife to take me where I needed to go. I mostly meant no stressing responsibilities. Your job at that time was to take it easy.

No musical. No circus. I have a nice empty day ahead. Other than the City Band concert tonight.
I just can't catch a break.

Aha! That's all well and good, but can you say definitively that "Mr. H will demonstrate ten somersets he'll undertake on solid ground"?

Back from a long day of birding at Fort DeSoto park all the way down at the tip of Pinellas County. Got up at 5 am. What was I thinking? Bay bridge, Osprey chicks, Nanday Parakeets. I'll post many more photos in the photo section but right now I'm too tired........Great day, glorious weather, good stuff!

It took a few somersets and some standing on our heads, but the Ubass is good to go. We also have written a few notes for the next time we do this. If there is a next time. I played it in for a while and it's already staying in tune better than it was with the old strings. The reason I have a Ubass instead of a real bass is my small hands. But I would almost rather buy a bass and be limited in my playing than restring this thing again. And Mr. H was doing most of the work. I'm not sure I'm even strong enough to stretch the strings.

DRLG - "my first venture out in the real world since March 14th!" Congrats!
Me too I lived in hospital/rehab 3/14 thru 4/12 (I had 5 infections and more) 1. I left a hospital/rehab in the real world April 12 2. I had friend/driver in the world - blood test -Lab- and a restaurant 4/22 3. April 25 - with friends - I am a bionic man - surgery 4. I'm still in my apartment. I'm not in the real world yet - RECOVERING 4/29
Without complaint in a bed or gurneys...... It was a great feeling and see to normal day, but I was fatigued when I got home
I have a medicine - Bactim - that's important. I won't get staph infection it definitely further disrupts your intestinal microbiome (it heals) making symptoms worse. It’s also possible to be actually allergic to a medication such as penicillin or Bactrim -( I had to popped the Bactrim pill for 5 days) it’s absolutely horrible (urine & anxiety, twitching and cramping of muscles, especially those in the hands and feet).
It ends Tuesday PM - woohoo

More Good News Dept.: A musical friend got through the first stage of a cardiac crisis today, a triple bypass. Woke up with chest pains last week and was diagnosed the same day. He's a long-time local player and sole-proprietor businessman, and what's as good as the successful surgery is the way his many friends, customers, and fans have rallied around with financial as well as emotional support. (A GoFundMe set up by his sister took off like a rocket.) He won't be back onstage until July, but if rehab goes as well as surgery, he'll make it.
