Good morning. Cloudy here with a forecast of rain on and off for the next three days, possible thunderstorm this afternoon, warm temps, and breezy conditions. Lunch yesterday was delicious—my family friend had some sort of pasta with rock shrimp and I had what was, perhaps, the best smoked salmon sandwich I have ever tasted, on a soft bun with avocado below and a scrambled egg above, side salad.
Making breakfast for Her Grace right now, cappuccino for both of us. Looking forward to hoovering the dog fur up from the rugs, doing some laundry, and beginning a play list for a guitar gathering to which I have been invited on May 26.
Have a peaceful day.
[On edit: 10:51 am, EST. rain stopped, sun shining, air warming.]

Good morning. Feeling rested after my day off from my physical exertions. I had plans for today, but Claire came up with some honey do's so that's what I'll be up to. Have a great day folks.

Good morning. We'll have about 60 to high 80s and, of course, the skies will not be cloudy all day. My wife and I are going to the Phoenix Zoo this morning. We haven't been there in over a decade so it'll be a novelty.
Have a good day.

I'm sitting in my recliner, watching the birds outside, on this sunny morning. Purple finches are building a nest on the nesting platform that I put up.
I noticed yesterday, driving to Vinton, that the corn is starting to show up and corn rows are visible.
My New washing machine is supposed to arrive today at 11:00 A M, might have time for a bike ride this afternoon.

Cold this morning in the trailer. We have not turned on the propane heater, just using a little ceramic space heater, it’s enough, almost. Sunny though. Shoukd warm up soon. Coffee is brewing.

Sunny after storms yesterday. The tornadoes skipped over us and went to MI. Two days from trying to learn to walk again. I feel like I could start today but I have followed a careful schedule for 8 weeks and see no reason to vary from that now. Stick to the plan! By the time I am semi-normal, I will have invested at least 18 weeks in my recovery. That’s a long time. And it goes by slowly. I find steri-strips all over the house because they are dropping off. I had a lot of stitches so there were a lot of steri-strips. I am getting closer, but I still can’t reach the cigar.

And you will be better off than you were 18 weeks earlier. I admire your discipline and fortitude, LJ.

Good morning.
48F-74F sunny.
I'll finish up a classical guitar I've been working for the past few days this morning. I'll text my classical teacher clients about it and it will probably be sold within minutes. They usually use them as rental instruments for a while and then sell them at cost to a student. It's a win win for us all. The parents get to rent an instrument for a while and if they do buy it the student gets a really nice playing and in tune guitar that most stores could never offer.
It's going to be a nice day so Simon will spend it sprawled out on our front sidewalk. People passing by will think we have a dead cat out front as he will lay there not moving for hours. He loves Summer and it's difficult to get him to come in at bedtime.

The only upside I can think of to not getting old is that one leaves a good-looking corpse.

During my recovery I was, like you right now, unable to stand and pee without it looking like I was trying to put out a barn fire. So I did it sitting down and I still do. It solved two problems, one was remembering to put the fucking seat back down and two was not splashing pee all over the place so the area around the toilet stays cleaner. It also helps with those middle of the night pee breaks when you have to go but really don't want to wake up. If I didn't tell you no one would ever know that I did this and it is also practiced by prison inmates to keep their cell cleaner.

Marty: Did you know there is a word in German for a middle-aged man who sits down to pee?

Well, when a person can’t walk, getting up at night to use the bathroom is impossible. In my case it requires a wheelchair, a walker, and waking up Barb. With all she has done and continues to do, I am not about to wake her if I don’t have to do so. I can’t sleep in the bed because it’s too high and difficult to get into so I sleep in the recliner that is in the bedroom. It’s easier. That means at night I have to use portable urinals. That’s not fun but I have gotten the hang of it. Sitting down is the least of my worries no matter what the Germans call it. Getting into the bathroom in the daytime is difficult enough and requires help because I can’t operate a wheelchair and a walker at the same time. And doing it all, standing & sitting & getting back up, on one leg adds to the difficulty. When dealing with something like this, you better have a loving partner because all modesty, shame, embarrassment, and dignity goes out the window. You can make a list and you will still leave most of the things you won’t be able to do, or the kind of help you will need, off because you won’t even think of them until you have to do them. I am fully aware there are many people worse off and that my problems are temporary and improving, but I am still in the woods, not out of them. It sounds like I am whining. I’m not. I really am pretty positive about all of this. I just acknowledge the pain-in-the-ass part.😵💫

Very little on today's agenda, so I'm getting caught up on the little things that have slipped or are about to slip through the cracks. One of those is making sure that everything is lined up for our cruise around Iceland this summer. My visit to the retinal specialist yesterday was good. My wet AMD (in one eye only) is stable and so I didn't need an injection and I'm now on a 3 month schedule. I haven't needed an injection since November. Mr. H is on a 5 week schedule for each eye and gets an injection each time. And it has been a real PITA trying to make our 2 schedules not conflict and working around when the doctor is gone and when we have other things going on. It's not advisable to drive after getting dilated and also having an eye injection. The good news is that we can both still see, although Mr. H has all but given up driving. He has been treated for 10 years now and we are both grateful for the vision that he has.
We normally go out for dinner on Wednesdays, but next week we have 3 dineouts, so are going to take a pass this week.

One of those is making sure that everything is lined up for our cruise around Iceland this summer. Speaking of cruises, doesn't this one sound great? With the next total solar eclipse taking place on Aug. 12, 2026, in Europe, Princess Cruises is offering astrotourism lovers a chance to cruise and view it in northern Spain. The cruise line’s 2026 solar eclipse cruise is a 14-day Mediterranean cruise onboard the Sky Princess, which departs Southampton on Aug. 8, 2026. It goes on sale May 23, 2024, with rates starting at $2,199 per person. The cruise will feature eclipse glasses, viewing opportunities, astronomy lectures, themed treats and drinks and more. The voyage departs from Southampton, U.K., and visits seven ports in Europe, including Cherbourg in France; Bilbao, Cartagena and La Coruña in Spain; Lisbon in Portugal and Gibraltar. TravelPulse

I guess you could get a small guitar and play.... or ukulele you're still on the plan I'm in recovery as well .... infections, surgery, hospital, rehab, and I have the plastic urinals, 4 wheel walker, cane, grabber.... and I have Meal on Wheels.... I'm about to ride my stationary bike soon - therapy ---- on the plan

It does sound like a neat cruise, but the ship carries 3,660 passengers. For that reason and others, we don't do Princess cruises. If Viking or Oceania offered something similar, I might bite.
