I like Indianapolis, but I found myself starting to pull for San Diego as the game progressed, and the Chargers pulled it off.
I have never like Dallas, and I found myself really rooting for the Giants, (to the point that I nearly pulled a muscle while jumping up after one particularly key stop by the Giant's "D"), and the Giants pulled it off.
And, (an important point here), the Vikings beat both San Diego and the Giants, handily, I might add. So there is now a chance that the Vikings could, by twisted fan logic, be the true Super Bowl champ.
HUZZAH!!!

Not being a New England fan (can SOMEONE please beat them?) I have to go with the Packers. I figure they can beat the Giants in sub zero weather and maybe Favre can beat the Pats. If so, I expect Favre to retire. Hell, I expect him to retire anyway.

Favre was quite impressive yesterday, I must say.
And Brady seems to becoming more of a chicken-shit each day, but I just love to watch his precisional precession.

Two excellent games yesterday. The Cowboys vs Giants game had me on the edge of my seat the last five minutes and that is a rarity.
For the official showdown in the Super Bowl, I'll stick my neck out (though not too far) and guess it's going to be a Patriots vs. Packers match. I'd like to think the Packers have a slight edge but I wouldn't bank on it. I'll come up with a potential score/handicap as the game gets closer. Anyone expecting an upset by the Chargers over the Patriots or the Giants over the Packers? Is that a dumb question?

Somebody's got to put some pressure on Brady. What I saw of the game, he never even had to step up in the pocket. ANd he had all day.
I was thinking that little trick play where he tossed a TD pass after raising his hand in the air with his back to the line, he shoulda gotten his kidneys realigned.

Giants could win in warm weather -- but Manning can't throw a football in cold weather -- he has N'orleans hands. Packers by 1 touchdown...
Chargers will be arriving on stretchers to the AFC Championship game.... Patriots by 2 outchdowns or more....
Pats will just crush the Packers... but I am cheering Favre all day long -- he's a classy guy, a likeable personality and worthy of the crown...

I will be rooting for the Pack, but a Giants win wouldn't surprise me at all.
The Giants have the best pass rush in football, perhaps. Anyway, they put the heat on Romo in an impressive way, and given Romo's mobility and the Dallas offensive line, that is not an easy thing to do. (yes, Romo looked dumb and indecisive, but that was the pass rush. Given a little more security, he would have looked smart and clever. Huge, mean men waving their arms and running you down is distracting. Very distracting.
Anyway, the best way to beat Green Bay is to put heat on Farve. Hurry him. Hit him. No secret there. That is the best way to beat every team in the NFL with one exception, the Minnesota Vikings. The way to beat the Vikings is to encourage the pass. And to be sure to give their quarterback plenty of time to scope out the field and get thoroughly confused over all the different options.
The gametime temp may be colder than hell (which is damn cold, ask Dante). This morning, here in nothern Minnesota, it was -20 F. It is still -10, which is a cold mid-afternoon temp. There is a big pile of even colder air lurking to the north which is supposed to push down mid-week. Which means there should be enough really damn cold air around to filter its way down to central Wisconsin. Which means another below zero championship game in Green Bay is very possible.
And if it is that cold, don't assume Green Bay has the advantage. The Packers are no more acclimated to the cold than the Giants are (as soon as football season is over, most of the Packers blow town). In a cold, miserable game, the Giant's more physical defense and sturdier running game could well prevail.
In fact, I have just talked myself into considering a bet on the Giants. I think I will check the odds and maybe do a little Internet action.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the Chargers dump New England either. For the same reasons. The Chargers have a more physical defense with a scary pass rush. They also have a better running game. And who knows how fit the weather will be in Foxboro for a pass attack come this Sunday.
Hmmm? Two bets, odds permitting?.

On the other hand, who knows what the hell will happen. And betting just takes all the fun out of a game. Just keeps me all nervous and distraught when I could be eating chips, drinking beer, and enjoying myself.

I don't know what I'm finding more interesting this year. Football or the presidential race. Yet I'm leaning on football.

I finished reading it, fished in my pocket for a $1 bill, and marched off to the geedunk machine, where I purchased a fresh 75-cent bag of Lays Classic Potato Chips, sat down in the coffee lounge and devoured them without hesitation. Life is good.

I agree with some others that it'll end up Packer against NE. I was really pleased to see Dallas lose because I just don't like Jerry Jones and because I didn't have high hopes for the Packers winning in Dallas.
I'd love to think the Packers can pull off a win in the Superbowl, but my gut tells me not. I think that game will come down to who gets the turnovers and can capitalize on them. If the superbowl started out like the Seattle game, it would have been all over I think. If the Packers special teams can score some points or give them good field position it might also change the outcome.
But it'll sure be fun over the next few weeks to watch it all unfold.

Pats over Packers or Giants or the NFC Pro Bowl Team 31-17 or 31-21. You saw it here 1st...
A competitive and fun game to watch would be good... halftime with Tom Petty sounds OK!

Is my imagination causing me to "read between the lines" (OK... it's obvious with some of you/us) here or do I detect a majority of our forumites who would like to see the Patriots add one to the lost column?
