I think I'm going to part with my J-45. Hate to do it, but circumstances dictate I consider it. (Remind me why I didn't take my company's recent buyout....)
Anyway, here's the deal. It's a '98 Montana-built J-45, and I think it is one of the finer mahogony slope-shoulder dreads you're going to hear. It has that Gibson "chunk" and yet I used it for quite a lot of fingerpicking, too.
I bought it new in '99 from a shop in St. Paul. It is in excellent shape, and has been professionally maintained. All repair and other work on it has been done by Hoffman Guitars in Minneapolis. The only "major" repair it has ever had was the fix of the classic Gibson crack alongside the fingerboard near the soundhole. It was professionally repaired at Hoffman's.
It has a Baggs passive iBeam installed, and for a little extra dough, I'd probably throw in a Baggs GigPro pre-amp, which is the recommended pre-amp for this pickup.
The guitar would come with its original Gibson arched top and plush-lined hardshell case.
The only downside for 90 percent of the population: The guitar has a left-handed pickguard. It can easily be removed, but there is probably a "sun tan" underneath it.
If anyone's interested, let me know. Thanks.

Another leftie here... don't really have the dough for this, just wondering how much you're looking for it... if you'd prefer not to disclose it, thats okay too...

I should point out that the only thing about the guitar that is left-handed is the pickguard. While I am left-handed, I play the guitar "upside down," i.e., with the bass strings closer to the floor and the treble strings nearer the ceiling. (At least if I'm upright. If I'm laying down and playing, then the treble strings point north....)
As for price, if I throw in the Baggs GigPro, I'd be looking for around $800.

So this is a leftie (since it has a leftie pickguard), but you restrung it to be a rightie (what about the nut and saddle?), so you could play it upside-down left handed? 800 with the pickup, preamp and case is probably peanuts for this guitar... too bad I don't even have peanuts... ... I hope you find a buyer (and you probably will with this price)... just in case you can't find a buyer now, I hope this shows up again on this forum a few months later and I might bite the bullet...

I guess I should make myself clear.... The guitar is a right-handed guitar, and that's the way it came from the factory. The only things I've done to it is remove the pickguard and put a left-handed pickguard on it, replace the gaudy white plastic tuner buttons with ivoroid ones and have a Baggs iBeam installed.

Dang David, if it wasn't for my Hummingbird, I'd buy it in a heart beat. That case is $200 alone. Has Tim been notified of this deal?
