Well the vote is getting close. I don't like the whole karma thing. It's already resulted in some bad feelings.
A question for Cribbs, if it is retained, is there a way to disable it for forum members who don't want to participate or know what their popularity rating is?

The only option I have seen is to enable it or disable it across the board.

Even though my choice is to stop it, this vote is awful close. I don't thing it is one that can be called. Looks to me like it should stay.

Of course, we're going to need to review the paper ballots on this election. No one here is really going to trust an electronic voting outcomes are they? HAH!

I agree with Johnne - unless the vote changes substantially in the next few hours I think we should leave things as they are, even though I voted to abolish.

So will we need some sort of supermajority to make forum decisions, e.g., 60% or more vote to change? If so, we need to make that clear up front.
I voted to keep, but will certainly go along with whatever the majority chooses.

Yeah, we need to decide something. I always thought it should be simple majority, but it seems we need to get it clear.

I think we should require a supermajority to change the focus of the forum to motorcycles or quilting. Here, though, the issue is whether to use a feature that has virtually no history in this community and no presumptive validity. It seems to me that deference isn't owed to either side of the vote and majority rule should be sufficient.

That's the way I lean too. If it's gone, it doesn't really affect the forum. Like most people, it doesn't bother me, but it has already caused some bad feelings amongst some.
I motion that simple majority wins this one.

By a majority vote of 21-18, the Karma Feature has been voted to be disabled.
When the charter is ready, it will outline the procedures for voting on it again in the future, if desired.
