this is very nice. Did you shoot in B&W mode or is that converted in your software?

It's converted with the channel mixer, Kate. I've been meaning to ask if there's some advantage to shooting in black and white. It seems to me that using the channel mixer gives you more flexibility. On the other hand, I always get what is either grain or noise.

I suggest that you shoot in RAW only. The black and white image looks pretty cute on the viewer, but it is much more limited than the RAW file. The channel mixer is the best way to make a useful black and white photo outside (I think). I'm sure that you have a Histogram in your software - and I would lighten my shadows in your photo I little bit by pulling them up slightly just to see if the shadow detail would add anything. Not saying it would, but it might be interesting. You might like to burn the sky in a whole lot to make the moon stand out. Or not. I like the composition of this shot, and I think the wisps of cloud around the moon are terrific.
