That's it! Georgian Bay. That's where we'll be next summer!
Basically, we have a niece and nephew who have a cottage up there and the family is renting one or two more cottages in the same area so we can all be together. I just called Merja and she knows of Owens Sound but we don't know if that's where the cottage is. We'll certainly let you know when we're close to coming up. And it gives me another reason to bring my guitar.
Oh my gosh, a family of Finns all in one spot. I haven't heard Finnish spoken in this family in years.

If there are Finns, there must be fiddles nearby. And saunas! Remember, you say it SAU-nah, not SAW-nah, if you're Finnish. p.s. I know this is old, but ....... Q. How can you tell when a Finn is in love with you?
A. He stares at YOUR shoes instead of his.

this is terrific Greg - now Georgian Bay is a big place and Owen Sound is a city. I hope you're on the Bruce Peninsula side and not the East side.

Sekh, I will likely be very close to Owen Sound this summer, as I'll be in Charlevoix, Michigan. The only problem is that it's very close by boat, not by car.

Maybe you could convert your Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper to a waterborne craft, John. wynn.vox.com/library/post/thunderbolt-grease-slapper.html

Uh, John... close compared to what? Charlevoix and Owen Sound are a very long boat ride from each other. Charlevoix is a closer boat ride to Grand Rapids - just down the coast "a little" and up the Grand River. Not that you'd want to boat up the Grand River.

Close as compared to Kansas City. I can drive to Grand Rapids - although my destination is more likely Kalamazoo, Oswego, or Galesburg. Mebbe Holland.
