Last night I went to a 50th birthday party for an old friend I haven't seen in years. When she was a teenager, her parents would go away on extended trips, and her and her sister would have parties at their house, which is a peculiar little somewhat tudor style place, small with low ceilings, that we called the Hobbit house.
They were great parties, a great time in our lives. Lots of music, and fun, and that great feeling of youth, just before reality strikes and you find out that being adult does NOT mean you can do whatever you want.
They had tons of old pictures of us sitting around, partying, playing music, justing hanging out. Lots of hair, and lord, very skinny bodies.
It was a great night, full of memories. Talking to people who were brothers to me, still are, though I don't see them enough. All we wanted to do was party and play tunes.
Can't live in the past. But parts of if were very fine.

Good story, Rick. There is nothing like reminiscing with old friends. Your post reminds me of Shel Siverstein's song, On Susan's Floor. Anybody play that one?

I've been going through my negs from 79-86. We sure were cuter.

Isn't that truth, Doug. I had better hair, that's for sure.
VI, haven't heard that one. Someone did do a long tribute to the birthday girl, a take off on American Pie, which was pretty darn good.

I wasn't familiar with "On Susan's Floor", so I looked it up on You Tube. Couple of nice versions on there. Found lyrics and chords on the net too.

One of my favorite "remembering good times with old friends" songs. My family sings this just about every time we get together. This is another favorite, though I MUCH prefer Nancy Griffith's version. Of course, for me reminiscing is a little different. Dar and I started dating each other when we were 16 years old.

When I was young and in High School the song, "Moments to Remember", was a big hit. I didn't think much of the words then but now fifty years later are they right on. What memories. They told us that those years would be the best of our life and damn if I don't believe them now.
