Hey Tam,
Next time you're in Elderly, can you check something out for me?
They've got a Benedetto Fratello on thier website that is "Clearance Priced", meaning obscene, but pretty good for a Benedetto.
If you happen to be there, could you take a look at it. The last time I played one a few years ago in Lansing, it was amazing. Almost played itself. Not sure if this is similar. It's been in thier inventory for quite a while and I'm not sure if something's wrong with it.
No need to rush over, but I know you need excuses to stop there.
Let me know what you think bud. Thanks in advance.

Aquaduct -- I would be pleased to check it out. I expect to have a trip thru Lansing enroute to or returning from east Michigan sometime in the next week or two. (I am an ignoramus about archtops and jazz in general, but I will slide a few 7th and 9th chords up and down the neck and try to act serious)

Hey bud, that's cool. You really don't need to know much about jazz specifically. The one I played a while back was just a magnificent acoustic instrument. Very responsive and almost plays itself. And it'll do that no matter what you play.
Just try playing up the neck a bit and if there's an experienced jazzer around, maybe he/she can demonstrate the tone.
That, and just check if someone's dropped it or something.
Thanks a bunch.

Criminy, that is a GREAT price for a Benedetto.

Yes it is, even a "not from the hand of Bob" one like that.

I'll have to check, but that may well be my Father-in-law's. I know he was considering selling his and often does through Elderly. Sure looks like it, but I can't imagine him selling it that low.

Kook,
It's not your Father-In-Law's. It's new and made with the Fender/Benedetto partnership. It's probably a 2004 or so.
But still, at that price, it's a good deal if it's OK.
Your Father-In-Law's is probably worth 3 times that much.

Yeah, it probably isn't his father-in-law... fathers-in-law normally do not go on sale on guitar websites...
Particularly when they are three times as much...

Actually he has sold several through Elderly's website on consignment. You're right though, that's not his. The one he has is a custom that Bob B. actually made.
