I'd been playing a song that one friend wrote about another when their romance tanked...thirty years ago. The three of us are all still friends, still in touch and still playing music. Thinking about that prompted this song.
I gave up jalapenos They started biting back I gave up looking groovy I sorta lost the knack Had to give up running The aching was a clue But at least there’s one thing I’m not too old to do
[Chorus] Ain’t too gray for music And I don’t plan to stop I intend to pick and grin Up until I drop I still feel the magic When it’s time to play When it comes to music I’m hoping I won’t ever get too gray
Now some things are thinner Sure do miss my hair Other things are heftier Like my derriere Some things sure get taller Like the hills I climb One thing keeps on shrinking That’s my share of time
[Chorus]
I’m too gray for thinking Our leaders will be wise I’m too gray for killing To come as a surprise And I’m past believing We’ll learn to get along But not too gray for hoping That I’ll be proven wrong
[Chorus]

Love the verses.
The chorus is pretty good too. The last line doesn't seem as strong as the rest of the tune, though. Probably much better if I hear it.
Very cool verses. The first two lines are a great attention grabber.

Thanks, Marshall. Maybe I'll tinker with the chorus. The last line of the chorus has to be longer; the whole song is I-V-IV-V and that last line has to be lengthened to end on a I chord, providing a little resolution.
